For: Challenge: Valentine's Day 2010
Pairing: Miranda/ Andy
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or any claims to The Devil Wears Prada.
Warnings: This is my first Mirandy story and it is longer than I expected I will try to keep posting I think it won't go past 10 parts, but I'm still mucking around. There is some mayhem reported but not experienced by cannon characters. I jump around in the past to tell the story, parts are reflections and dreams and Andy also reflects on a time she was reflecting. Most everyone else just reflects once. Confusing? I hope not. There is smut so I guess I should add a warning to tell the 14 and under set to look elsewhere. Consider yourselves warned - go elsewhere.
privatesmile's request: I want a Miranda Andy fic., post-Paris, where they meet somewhere that is out of both their elements and by some twist of fate they have to spend time together. Humor and massive drama ensues and they fall in love...Smut is always welcome.
Summary: Andy has been freelancing after a successful expose at the Mirror launches her career. She's been having erotic dreams whenever she's home and began traveling all over the US to out run them for the last 2 years, but has finally decided to face her fears when she gets home. Cassidy and Caroline are getting ready to head out to San Francisco for their dad's 3rd wedding. Miranda is busy at Runway and New York Fashion week is around the corner. Thigh high boots may be making a comeback this spring if Miranda's attention to them is any indication.

Miranda had a few minutes at home to change from suit to slacks before her daughters came home. Skillfully she reapplied her makeup and the sounds of their thumping did not affect her steady hand.
Caroline: “Mom!”
“Mom, You’re home early. Are you going out again?” Cassidy asked with hope in her eye for a negative answer.
“No Bobbsie, I’m yours for the evening.” Both girls smiled.
“Mrs. Martine made us dinner, or we can go out. I leave the decision to you.”
While the girls enjoyed going out, it was rare they had an evening with their mom during the week.
Caroline: “Let’s stay here.“
Cassidy: "We have some homework to finish up when you do the Book.”
Miranda: “Wash up from soccer and I’ll heat up our dinner.”
Cassidy headed out, but Caroline lingered. “Mom,” she said.
“Yes, Caroline.”
“Will you consider flying out and meeting us after the wedding this weekend?”
Miranda turned from the mirror and started to ask why, but her child’s earnest face made her pause. She waited.
Caroline: “It would be more fun to be there with you after Dad and Tina leave for their honeymoon. We could have fun together; it would be good for us. Grandma Kathryn is a bit tottery on her legs and Cass and I want to explore more. We don’t want her to feel bad, but she can’t keep up with us.”
Miranda: “Wait, isn’t Greg’s sister Karla going to be with you, too?“
“Change in plans. Karla has a new man,” she sighed.
“Oh. Well that is unfortunate. Well perhaps not for Karla,” Miranda said with some disdain.
“Mom, you know she can’t be trusted to remember us.”
“Trust her to remember you, she scoffed. Karla hardly remembers her name whenever she starts a new relationship. Kathryn will be beside herself and that isn’t fair to you or your sister.”
Who knew abstinence prevented hormonal Alzheimer’s for Greg’s sisters. Mary Grace became a nun and she was thankful to god. Otherwise it was gonads, go full speed ahead like Karla. Miranda thought to herself.
Caroline: “Exactly. Cassidy and I want to see some of San Francisco and we thought you might be able to take a short break with us.” The last words of her daughter’s plea were ruefully expressed. Her eyes showed resignation that their idea would not work out and that she and Cassidy would need to leave for home/NY sooner.
Miranda made a split second decision.
“Bobbsie, that sounds like a lovely plan. I could use a break and it would be wonderful to spend it with my favorite girls. I’ll call Emily and work things out to pick you up at the wedding reception.”
Caroline almost squeed “Mom that’s awesome!” Caroline’s light blue eyes lit up, she quickly kissed her mom’s cheek, and dashed up the stairs to tell her sister.
Miranda hated disappointing her daughters. She could do some work on the plane and New York Fashion week was surprisingly shaping up well. Nigel can manage the reins for a time. It will be a good experience for him to crack the whip. Miranda smiled mischievously and opened her phone. “Emily…”
~~~~~~~~~
Emily has rallied and done the impossible yet again. Nigel is even contemplating wearing a tie while left in charge. Miranda will see her daughters off tomorrow morning and either head to San Francisco late on Friday and hopefully spend the morning at a spa while Cassidy and Caroline attend the wedding or leave on Saturday morning if Friday was endless.
