HOLY SHIT, PLANETARY #27

Jul 20, 2009 16:58

SWEET UNDEAD SON OF THE JUDEO-CHRISTIAN GOD, GIVE ME A POSTER OF THIS.

Somewhere hell is feeling a distinct chill. Why? Because Planetary #27 was finally solicited.

The very last issue.

We've only been waiting...three years for it?

This is it. Jakita Wagner, the Drummer, and Elijah Snow finally come to an end.

But the cover.

It's...well, it's Cassaday, that's for sure. It's garish, it's seriously Dada, it's jumbled, it's chaotic, and it's blinding.

One question, though - where's the Green Lantern analog? I've been thinking about that issue of Planetary a lot, particularly since Ellis chose to make the character BLUE, and his mission was to go out and spread hope throughout the universe.

The solicit text made me crack up:

PLANETARY #27
Written by Warren Ellis
Art and cover by John Cassaday

Tons of things have changed since writer Warren Ellis (THE AUTHORITY, STORMWATCH) and artist John Cassaday (Astonishing X-Men) began their long, strange trip into the bizarre underbelly of the WildStorm Universe, but one thing has stayed the same: Anticipation for this final issue of the critically acclaimed series remains gargantuan! Over a decade in the making, PLANETARY culminates in this spectacular, oversized adventure. Prepare for answers to be revealed as the enigmatic Elijah Snow has one last errand to run!

Featuring a stunning 3-piece wraparound gatefold cover drawn by Cassaday, PLANETARY #27 represents the end of an era and should not be missed!
On sale October 7.

A long, strange trip indeed.

Pro tip: If you've never read Planetary, one of the main characters smexes up televisions.

No, I am not making this up.
