Well. I was working on the timeline when I realized I had a pretty annoying problem. I want to create a unified timeline (spanning the entire world history) but such a timeline would be long, even if I only included founding of cities, kingdoms, empires and significant wars. I still plan on having such a timeline, but I think it would be easiest to create it after I create a "era" timeline for each time period. So, that being the case, here's the start of that:
Starting off with the "Era" involving the "Three Kingdoms" (Hylon, Dolor and Nahil). To make some of this make any sense at all here's the brief background:
Dolor is a racially mixed country, being about half human and half dwarven (with a small population of other races mixed in throughout it). The majority of it's territory is part of two mountain chains, both of which have been and still are volcanically (is that even a word?) active. In addition to this, nearly all of the denizens of Dolor live underground. Their network of tunnels branches out into those which are controlled by the Kingdom of Hylon (a pure dwarven nation). As Hylon's mountains are stable, they make a much more suitable living location which results in a large amount of conflict between Dolor and Hylon. Nahil is an Elven Kingdom whose forests lie at the eastern edge of the mountain range which Dolor and Hylon share. The friction between Dolor and Nahil arises from the need for wood and foodstuffs that Dolor is in dire need of. Hylon has similar needs, but has better trade arrangments with it's neighbors then Dolor does. Also, the Dolorians are a much more agressive people. This timeline starts at the first contact between Dolor and Hylon (both have already had contact with Nahil). The 0 date marks the 'beginning' of this 'era'.
0 - a Dolorian mining crew breaks through a wall into a Hylon tunnel. First contact is made in a hostile fashion and the Dolorians kill nearly all of the surprised Hylons. This starts the first Dolor-Hylon war.
5 - The first Dolor-Hylon war ends. Hylon has been forced to give up 35 miles worth of the mountain range.
9 - Dolor learns that Nahil knew about Hylon before the first war.
16 - Dolor launches a surprise assault against Nahil. This is the first act of war by Dolor against Nahil. This launches the first Dolor-Nahil war.
22 - The first Dolor-Nahil war ends. Dolor is beaten back into it's mountain range.
41 - a Volcanic eruption wipes out the Dolorian city of Kechalt.
49 - The second Dolor-Hylon war begins.
50 - Dolor seizes the Hylonian city of Kyprest.
52 - The second Dolor-Hylon war ends. The new border is set just north of Kyprest (the Dolorians keep the captured city).
82 - Dolor rebuilds the city of Kechalt.
84 - Nahilians attempt to assassinate the Sorcerer-King of Dolor. Their failure sparks the second Dolor-Nahil War.
87 - Hylon attacks Nahil in an attempt to gain some arable land for crops. The first Hylon-Nahil war results.
90 - The first Hylon-Nahil war ends. Nahil gives land and favorable trade arangements to Hylon in exchange for peace.
92 - The second Dolor-Nahil war ends. No peace is declared, both sides just stop actively attacking the other.
95 - Hylon attacks Dolor and retakes Kyprest. The third Dolor-Hylon war begins.
98 - The third Dolor-Hylon war ends. The Hylonians keep Kyprest.
111 - A plague strikes Hylon.
113 - Dolor initiates the fourth Dolor-Hylon war. This war sees the first use of necromancy for military purposes by the Dolorians.
114 - Kyprest falls to the Dolorians.
115 - The Hylonian sister-cities of Diur and Dayur fall to Dolor.
117 - Hylon returns the land it took from Nahil in the first Hylon-Nahil war in exchange for military aid.
119 - Dolor begins a two-pronged offensive against both Hylon and Nahil. Heavy casulaties are inflicted on both sides.
121 - A dry season leaves the Nahil forests parched. Wildfires limit the fighting capabilities of Nahil and they are driven back.
122 - With Nahil fighting to maintain its defenses, Dolor launches a massive offensive against Hylon. This offensive meets with great success.
123 - The final offensive against Hylon is stalled by an earthquake which collapses several key tunnels and caverns.
124 - Dolor re-equips it's troops in preperation for the final assault on both Hylon and Nahil. A volcano south of the capital erupts.
125 - Before the final offensive can be launched, the capital of Dolor is destroyed in violent volcanic eruption. The Sorcerer-King is killed and the armies return home to play a part in the upcoming civil war.
126 - Hylon and Nahil cement their alliance. They reclaim the territory they lost in the most recent war, although they are still very weak.
130-140 - 7 different volcanoes erupt causing massive casualties in Dolor.
142 - the Dolorian civil war ends.
145-280 - Although no wars result, border skirmishes between Dolor and the Hylon-Nahil alliance are common place.
287 - The fifth Dolorian war begins. Although the Dolorians use Necromancy, it's use is insufficient to grant them any advantage. The war is largely a bloody stalemate.
301 - the fifth Dolorian war ends.
378 - A new Sorcerer-King arises in Dolor. He starts the sixth Dolorian war, also called the One Year War. It is initially very successful, but ends prematurely due to an attempted coup.
394 - The Seventh Dolorian war begins.
403 - the Sorcerer-King of Dolor is assassinated. His Generals agree to continue the war and worry about succession afterwords. The still plot to kill each other.
405 - The Seventh Dolorian war ends with the death of the last General. Coupled with warning signs of impending volcanic activity, Dolor spends the next several centuries focusing inwards. The Hylon-Nahil alliance remains on guard.
