Konrad (Juve)
Konrad has just come of age in the Apos and is the newest recruit to the scavenging gangs. As far as he remembers he was raised by the Apos is willing enough to do his bit for Atom, but is inexperienced and lacking in confidence, or even bravado. He made an excellent scavenger in the civvy teams and the higher-ups are looking towards a future for him as a scout, but for now on the battlefield he is just getting used to being shot at and is focusing on keeping himself together.
Konrad was a real mix when it came to painting. Once again the wet palette performed wonderfully, and I couldn't be happier with the colours and blending on his skin. The details on his face picked out perfectly. Likewise his orange hair, the faux texture was a winner. In comparison the backpack, robe, feet, and belt were very by the numbers and left feeling a bit plain. His gun turned out exceptionally boring too, so I added a few coloured washes to the body of it for a bit of interest. Overall I'm satisfied with him though. I tried the matte spray varnish, and am very happy with the results. I also tried gloss varnish on the cylinder of radioactive goo, and liked it so much that I added it to the preceding five models as well.
It was while photographing this model, and wondering why my results were so poor due to contrast levels when I stumbled across what may be an answer. On closer inspection of the bulb I was using in my desk lamp, the colour temperature is 6500K, which is what I want, but the Lumens were above 800. I suspect then that it is the right light for photography, but the strength of the light is blasting away the colour on the model, certainly the brightness makes my eyes hurt. Aldi has some 470 Lumen bulbs at the same colour temperature on Saturday, so I'll try them.
