Quiet evening...

Aikido doesn't start till Thursday and German doesn't resume till next week, so I have an unusual amount of spare time these evenings. There's really on so much browsing of innane parts of the internet you can do. So, i'm now contributing to the innane parts of the internet for others to read. Oh, what a viscious cycle.

New years was pretty good. Despite not knowing what i would do until that very afternoon. I ended up going with Darcy and Colin down to georgetown for the party at the warehouse turned artist studios. That was pretty fun, despite a sort of dragging lull from 2-3:30ish where we were just sorta waiting for the drunk drivers to clear off the streets before biking home. It's amazing how many cool warehouses there are down there. For instance, right next door to the party is the Dirty Foot Collective, where i went to several shows some years ago. Back in that time when i was still hooked into the seattle anarchist/punk scene.

New years day, there was the extracycle ride #4, which, despite having gotten little sleep the night before was most enjoyable. From gasworks we went up and around greenlake, then through ravenna park to lunch at some overpriced yuppie sports bar at the u-village. Except for that last part, everything was wonderful. The weather held out, the ride was nice and relaxed, the folks pleasant, and we got to see some of the work on the ravenna creek daylighting project. It's a pretty big change from the flat sports fields like it was.

Next day, i went to lunch with alex, jeff and smita while alex is still in town, and got some tasty vegetarian buffet at flowers on the ave. Forgot how yummy their stuff is, it's been a while since i've been there. After that i fought the traffic of people returning to the uw from vacation and getting their books to head over to skogshuset for some quick homebrew action. Charlie and i racked over the honey amber from one carboy to another and then everybody left again just as quick to do some errands. But on my way out, i saw CHICKENS!!

The rest of the evening i spent playing with trinaz's kitten and new camera. Just sort of a quiet time.

Today was back to work after the break. New build of the software and, surprise, surprise, everything i've written in the past 3 months is broken because of regressions in the parsing engine. So, all day was spent figuring out just how it was fucking up and sending in a bug. At least when i'd done that i could leave with the good reason that i couldn't get anything else done until they fix it. Sometimes (read often) i really hate this job. It's so frustrating. Really makes me appreciate the times i'm not there more, and look forward to quitting in the spring for touring. Oh, that'll be so nice.
