How are things? They're alright. School's being a massive time consuming monster, but is manageable, in it's own sort of way. Haven't been out doing too much these days, mostly running the usual pattern of lectures, labs, and aikido. If only that ordering went the other way.
This weekend was CATS. That's the Cascadia Anarchist Tech Symposium/Skill-share/Social (nobody is entirely sure what the S stands for). Mitchell's been involved with said group for a while now, and volunteered our house to host a meeting this last weekend. So, on Saturday and Sunday, there were 20-30 hardcore geeks and punks and other random folks inhabiting our house. For my initial scepticism, it was really cool. The folks were good sorts, the lot of them, and i learned some new interesting stuff. Furthermore, even though our house was trashed, it wasn't nearly as trashed as i expected, being not too much of a mess. Other amazing thing was that everybody got fed. Huge operations to produce army sized batches of hash browns, spaghetti, pancakes, hummus, stir fry. For sitting around most of the day, these folks had pretty hearty appetities.
The other noteworthy event is that the annual celebration of my forthcoming is approaching. That'll be on the 27th, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. No plans yet, but it'll probably involve a bunch of people coming over to the house, hanging out, nerding out, and, maybe, if the older pressure group is really, really insistent, going out. But i'm not too excited by the proposition, and we must make sure that "no child is left behind".
Hmm... I actually mean that, unlike some others who've used the phrase.
Right, time for class.
