holiday whirlwind

I've laughed. I've cried. I've been running around like a maniac getting no sleep and stressing out. It must be the holiday season.

The rundown:
My roommate moved out this week and took pretty much all the furniture with her, save for the love seat and two cushy chairs which were rejects. [sniff] Goodbye 42" wall-mounted flatscreen tv, we had a few good months together. Got a new roommate on Tuesday who will be moving in late January. Yay, one less thing I have to worry about over Christmas!

Went with a friend to a free screening of Australia last night with a good Baz Luhrman Q&A afterwards. Then went to happy hour cause neither of us had eaten dinner yet. I was so lucky to get out of work early and across town in time.

Secret Santa tomorrow at work. Then two work parties this weekend. On Sunday night, I fly back to Minnesota for a week.

OMG. How I Met Your Mother's "Little Minnesota" had some pretty accurate some stuff stuff but there is a minefield of funny they didn't exploit about my home state.

The 1999 NFC Championship football game is the 2nd most depressing things that has ever happened to one of our professional sports teams. The number 1 is the North Stars hockey team getting sold to Dallas, Texas. (That's only because the sting of the Land of 10,000 Lakes losing The Lakers basketball team to Los Angeles has been long enough for wounds to heal.) Last winter when I was visiting, North Stars nostalgia had taken over. Anyway, back to the most depressing we almost went to the Super Bowl loss. Seriously, I loved watching football all through high school. But after that loss I never fully recovered and didn't watch for years. Now that I moved across the country, and am ready to begin watching again, the games start too early for me to watch (because I go to church).

The one thing I didn't get was Minnesotans being exclusive. WTF? Have they never heard the of Minnesota Nice? We're known for being generous with neighbors and social justice issues alike. [shakes head]

Also, love the fun new caper show, Leverage, with muscle man Christian Kane (but not his hair). After the holidays, I'm going to start watching the flist-hyped Merlin

yay!, tv, real life
