"I was hoping we were lost."

I FREAKING LOVE JEREMY RENNER! It was so hot today I woke up sweating. So during the late afternoon, my roommate and I went to see The Bourne Legacy. The previews looked really good; I had been planning on it opening weekend and it was great. Aaron Cross is completely different than Jason Bourne, a little lighter and funnier but still intensely focused. Plus Rachel Weisz is wonderful as the new ("warrior" scientist) leading lady and Edward Norton is spot on as a powerful d-bag g-man. The plot fits perfectly in the Bourne universe and sets up a myriad of possible stories without neglecting the one at hand. IT WOULD BE EPIC! if Aaron Cross and Jason Bourne teamed up. Bourne is more of a lone wolf and would be hesitant but I can see Cross seeking him out. Also, Jeremy did all his own stunts in this movie except a few of the trickier motorcycle ones! Which is very impressive when you see all the crazy stuff he does in this film. I kinda want to see this film in the theater again. I need Renner on my screen. There is something about him that is intriguing and comforting. I still need to see The Hurt Locker so maybe I will watch that and The Town and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol first. Go see it people!

I absolutely love the first conversation Aaron has with the other Outcome participant in the cabin. It just sets up so much of his personality for me. It cracks me up all the questions that he asks the guy. I love it when he susses out that the other guy was being punished for falling in love. His surprised laugh made me melt.

The government men ticked me off with their arrogance which was their job as villians. There were about four head honchos and every time they came on screen I was hoping they would be killed off. Sadly, none of them were but that's what sequels are for. *wink* I'm not quite certain but I think that Edward Norton's character recruited Aaron which I thought was a nice touch. It gave some depth and context to the cat-and-mouse game, especially since they never converse or meet with the exception of the flashback.

Rachel Weisz plays an interesting female character which too many films lack. Obviously, she a super smart scientist but she's also got moxie: the unauthorized test she takes the initiative to do for a co-worker, the survival instincts that kick in when she's almost shot in the lab, the first argument she gets in with Aaron when she tells him to pull over the car (and he does!), warning Aaron about the police, and the end of the chase! When he's sick and he tells her she fulfilled her end; she doesn't own him anything; she's a warrior; she can make it on her own; just take the money and run. Gah! It struck me she really was a warrior. I loved it.

I loved them as a potential couple. Saving her life doesn't hurt but I loved when they showed the flashback of one of his 13 exams and he was relentlessly hitting on her. She didn't really turn him down but just reminded him they were "on camera" so don't try anything. lol And I loved that he was upset she didn't even know his name. He was just participant number "5". *grin* And the end "Are we lost? I was hoping we were lost." And hand holding! *sigh* Yup, no kissing, no sex ...yet. This is not a rom-com and for this type of film I prefer reality.

Oh, and a new remix of Moby's "Extreme Ways" for the credits. I love how that has become the official Bourne theme song. It doesn't feel like its the end until it starts playing. I came home and the first thing I had to do was listen to the original.

yay!, film
