Ringer was better than I anticipated which wasn't too hard since I didn't like any of the promo footage. The best word to describe the pilot is austere. I'm unsure if that is a good thing or bad thing. One thing that stood out for me was the music choices. The songs set the right mood and filled-in the emotional gaps left by the incredibly restrained atmosphere. I like all the actors but I'm on the fence about the show.
For the last two weeks, I've been marathoning Fringe. Or as my mom dubbed it, "Fringing out". I just finished yesterday in time for this week's Season 4 premiere. I read so much entertainment news that I was spoiled on most of the major reveals but its been fun seeing how nicely foreshadowed they are. Also, why is John Noble not Emmy nominated?! He's brilliant.
Season 1
The first ten episodes were pretty solid storytelling with the mythology. Then it devolved into more freaky-science-case-of-the-week with maybe a mythological element briefly sprinkled in. While Olivia is emotional reserved, she's not cold. Her drive and determination to get to the truth and help others shows how much she cares. I adore Walter and his journey to sanity. I don't quite believe Peter as the rogue with friends in low places but I do believe him as smart guy who has done little with his potential and think he's perfectly cast as Walter's son. From the very first episode I could see Peter's immediate attraction to Olivia who is of course in love with John. Love The Observers!
Season 2
This is where I turned into a full-fledged Olivia/Peter shipper. The soldier and the cynic. Peter: "But there's an argument to be made that beneath every cynic there is a frustrated romantic." [sigh] And I love that Walter ships them. Telling Peter how good Olivia is for him cause she sees through his b.s. and doing the cutest little dance when they are going are going out for drinks. And I love when Peter starts out telling Fauxlivia how much she is like Olivia only to realize that they are completely different. AND I LOVE OLIVIA'S "YOU BELONG WITH ME SPEECH" (and I've been listening to the score from that scene on repeat)! It won't embedded so... this scene from "Over There":
"In the end you have to come back because you belong with me." The episode "Peter" was amazing and so was the season finale "Over There". They were the start of the show kicking itself up a notch from good to brilliant.
Season 3
Wow. Just wow. This season rocked my socks off. And it made me love Over There as much as Over Here. It was so nice to see Charlie back and more bad ass than ever. Walternate totally gives me the creeps but has moments of humanity. And I haven't expressed how much I adore both Astrids and Broyles. Plus I <3 LINCOLN! The scene where Lincoln and cab driver, Henry, deliver Faulivia's baby when they think either Liv or the baby will die made me cry!!! "I love you." [sniff] Lincoln/Fauxlivia! Oh, and she named the baby after Henry! I love Henry. I still want to see him again.
Yay! Peter and Olivia finally getting to be together and seeing them married in the future rocked. One thing I'm sick of is Walter getting all the blame for everything bad that's happening. There is so much more going on and so many people involved. It was ridiculous he was in jail. I'm glad Peter "saved" both worlds but the way it ended I have no idea how they can pull this off. They're going to have to do alot of revisionist history and that gets tricky. Well, I'll definitely be tuning in to find out.
