Taiwan: Week 1
Since adsimilation is doing a con report, I'll leave that up to her! Thanks, Emily~! : D I lost my camera charger a few days prior to AX, so I couldn't take any pictures. : [ Nonetheless, it was lovely meeting everyone! <33
So I've been in Taiwan for a week now! : DD I left for the airport two days after the last day of AX, giving me very little time to recover from my con injuries. Who would have guessed that my Edgeworth cosplay would be the most painful one to date? x__X I was literally limping around the entire day after I got back and even had to sit down like an invalid when we were playing with fireworks. Most of the blisters and bruises have healed by now, but the top of my left toe is still a bit numb. It's a very strange feeling. I could stab a needle through it and not feel a thing. o__o
The first meal I had was takoyaki, which my brother and I devoured. *___* Oh, and for the record, adsimilation , there is no pineapple in the takoyaki.
We went to a Japanese restaurant, where I found this interesting and very dangerous contraption. It's convenient, I guess, but WOW. How threatening. o__o
Oh gods. This was so good. Tenderly cooked pieces of steak topped with freshly slivered onions, served with your choice of garlic or vinegar dipping sauce.
Again, I emphasize: So. Good.
Battered and fried seafood pastry balls.
More delicious steak. <3
Taiwan has a wide assortment of pizza flavors. This one was seafood with sweet mayo sauce drizzled on top of it. Um...I can't really say that it was that enjoyable, but it was interesting!
My cousin came home yesterday with a box of doughnuts from Mr. Donut! I woke up this morning and found 2.5 doughnuts left. What the heck, guys?!
One of them was in the shape of a bear and filled with cream. X3
I believe it's Hi-Chew's 10th anniversary or something, and they're coming out with a slew of new flavors. So far, I've found grape soda, cotton candy, and pudding. o__O
Also, I got new headphones! My other pair died on me last quarter, and I wanted to get the same one again. However, the store owner only carried the worst one and the best one in the line. Mine happened to be in the middle. OTL The owner was nice enough to offer to have it shipped in, though, if I wanted but suggested that I just upgrade to the best one. I argued that I didn't have enough money, and he finally gave in and gave me a huge discount. It was 2450 NT, and he cut it down to 2000 NT. <33 I love that you can bargain in Taiwan! So now I have upgraded from the PMX 60 the PMX 200. What a leap!
Oh the same day, I went through my first round of manga shopping. Twenty volumes, man! Also, while I was looking around in the store, I suddenly heard a familiar melody. Then before I could recognize the tune, I heard "do your best! Do your best!" and I spazzed inwardly. They were playing the Tenimyu soundtrack!!! 8DD I was not expecting that!
Oh gods. So, later on that day, I left my pile of manga (all of which are BL) in my bag next to my grandmother to go look at some other stands. To my horror and utter amusement, I came back to find her inspecting my manga and reading the summaries. This was basically what happened:
Me: ...what is that in grandmother's hands...?
Mom: Look, I think your grandmother's looking at your comic books. Isn't that funny?
Me: !!!!! adkflagflh;a; *runs over in a frenzy* Grandmother, why are you looking at my books?!!!
Grandmother: *looks up* Eh? What's wrong with me looking at them? They all seem to be about baseball players or something...
Mom: Mom, don't look at her books. They're terrible. You can read mine instead if you're bored.
Me: OTL OTL OTL
Oh, grandmother. WHYYYYYY. I have to admit I was laughing really hard on the inside, though, even though I was mortified. XD
Also, EEEEE!!! I found Butler Game, Pirate Game, and Thief Game!! I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THERE WAS A THIEF GAME. 8DD If I had any less dignity, I would have started prancing about in the store! I've been following Ryo Takagi's Game series since high school, and I'm so happy that she continued it! <333 ;____;
I finished ZE 8 on the plane, and WAAAH. ASARI. You're not even my favorite character, but WHYYYYY. DDX I asked the store owner when 9 is coming out, but he didn't know. *sigh* I need to knoooooow...>__>
