So, people keep asking me "Now what?" and "What does that mean?" Regarding the caucus results. So, here is how it works.
Delegates were selected in each precinct for the candidates. These delegates then go to the county convention, where they select from among themselves delegates for the district convention, and at the district convention they select delegates for the state convention. The estimated number of delegates to the state convention, assuming that all delegates show up and still support the candidate for which they pledged, will be about 940 for Obama, 744 for Edwards, 737 for Clinton, 53 for Richardson, 23 for Biden, 1 for Dodd, and 3 uncommitted. At the state convention, they pick 45 delegates, which would likely go 16 for Obama, 15 for Edwards, and 14 for Clinton. There are also 12 "superdelegates" who are not selected from caucuses. These 57 people attend the national convention and cast their votes as to who will be the candidate that the party supports.
I'm a delegate to the county convention and would love to go all the way to national. We'll see. I'll have to be sure to wear my "power tie" to the convention. Although dems wearing red is a bit... odd.
