Supreme Court fucks up, twice

Jun 28, 2007 16:29

So, the US Supreme Court has ruled that schools can not bus students or otherwise determine districting with race as a factor. Welcome back segregated schools. The court was split 5-4 on the decision, along conservative/liberal lines.

The court also overturned an almost 90 year old anti-trust law. Manufacturers are no longer prohibitted from setting minimum sale prices for their items. This means that if Geoff's Discount Store wants to carry Kleenex brand tissues, Kleenex can set not only the price at which I will buy it from them, but also the minimum price at which I must sell it. So, I would not be able to not turn around and sell an item for less than the suggested retail price if I choose.
