E-Mail Rumours, Dark Matter
So, I encountered this anti-Muslim e-mail that is circulating, claiming that Muslims are responsible for the removal of Holocaust lessons in British schools. There are a few problems with this.
A) There is no evidence that British Muslims ever asked for any chances to the curriculum.
B) The curriculum has not been changed. The Holocaust is required to be taught in England in fact.
C) The group which it claims was the one to do have done the study, does not conduct studies.
Yet major newspapers have reported on it as if it were fact. Fortunately, the BBC ran pieces on this that cleared up the situation, but not until just a few days ago.
Also, there is apparently a new movie called Dark Matter that is about the Gang Lu incident at the U of I. Meryl Streep is in it. It's really, really ironic timing for this movie though, with the VT shooting having just happened. I don't know if I should watch it or not. All of this stuff has been getting to me lately. I imagine that there will be some special showing on campus or something, since it happened here. I suppose that I might go if that is the case.
