Just Working
Yup pretty much back to seven days now the holiday seasons over... I'll prob take Sunday off or something and I slept in til seven today so thats something. Got four houses on the trot currently and a few smaller jobs to do after hours as well... gonna be about $35k worth over the next two months (cha-ching!)
Had a guy about my age working with me for the last week. He's been plastering for five years, and he said he learnt more in three days with me than in the whole time he's been at it. Nice to know we're still raising the standard out there.
I enjoy the feeling of knowing that Im sending competent people into the workforce, delivering good work and helping spread a bit of relief and happiness where building projects are causing stress and concern. I know a lot of people really appreciate it when a stage of their job comes together smoothly, and that appreciation is mostly why I dont need to advertise or worry about not getting paid. I like to pass these tactics and values on to the ones I train, cos its a better way to work and good for everybody.
Got the Welcome Homes showhome coming up, they want me to plaster it for them. Thats going to be a challenge, cos its a grand looking design and they asked if I could do it mates rates for them as well. Yeah, they been paying my rent for a few years now, so I think a discount is fair.
