Comfort Pet/Discomfort Pet

I know there are a lot of people that swear by their family pet being their "comfort pet", they are now allowed where only service dogs used to be allowed. They are allowed on airplanes and in stores, etc.

But what about the discomfort pet factor, when that person's comfort pet causes discomfort to others in that store or on that airplane. Let me delve into this "discomfort".

Take for instance, my coworker brings his dog to work every day, it's probably not really for "comfort" but more that he doesn't want to leave it at home alone (that's neither here, nor there). So having his dog here brings him great happiness but what about us people who have to hear it barking up and down the hall? There are some days, when I've not had a lot of sleep and it just rattles the hell out of my nerves. I just want to pack up my work and say, "I'm working from home, I can't take this barking today."

But on a less personal note: I'm a cat lover, definitely more a cat person than anything but I do love all animals. What about the person who takes their cat on an airplane for "comfort". What about all the people on that plane that might be allergic, that cat now becomes a discomfort to others.

John told me that walmart allows most comfort pets, except cats. That's discrimination.

What this really boils down to is, I'm annoyed by my coworkers dog and thought about how comfort pets have a great capacity to be discomfort animals for others.
