This movie is the all hype, no substance. It never establishes the relationships to earn any sort of payout for the ensuing horrors. AO Scott gave it the "Memoirs of a Gesha Award" for failed film translations of great pieces of Literature.
Anyhow, that's just a warning out there to people who watch movies. Don't buy into the the hype, that movie blows. Watch Pride and Prejudice on DVD instead.
