So I have always been faithful about having my teeth cleaned twice a year, till I graduated from vet school. Working 60- 80 hours per week, yes that is per week, made it VERY hard to fit anything outside of work into my life. Moving to Seattle has seen a bit of a cut back in my hours, so off I went to the dentist today for the first time in too many years. Great cleaning done, rads done, now for the bad news.
Seems that the creep dentist I had as a child that should have lost his license for unethical/malpractice issues totally screwed over my teeth. I have so little left of one of my teeth that is not filling that the dentist is sadly suggesting it be extracted. Yes we talked about root canal, build up and crown, but the costs of it are sadly equivalent to or more than what the rest of my mouth needs. Which is now 1 build up, 3 crowns and possibly a root canal or two, not to mention two or 3 small fillings. And due to my insurance having a $1000/year max, I dont see my spending more than what I could buy a nice used car for on one tooth when I have a few others that need attention too. Bleh. I always knew I hated that creep, but this is very sad. Oh well, at least it is only one tooth that I will lose.
