I read Feed by MT Anderson all in one day on Saturday, which I never do!
It's a dystopian book set in America at least 100 years in the future. Everyone has a "feed" in their brains which bombards them with advertising. It's like an internal internet connection which people have become completely dependent on.
The main character is an asshole, but that's almost necessary to the story as the concentrated consumer society has made its inhabitants incredibly shallow and practically illiterate. News is so censored that people don't even know that the entire world is in danger and that protests are going on throughout the world against America's irresponsibility.
It's a scary picture. As much as I love technology. I'm not sure if humanity's self-awareness would allow such extreme measures, but it was definitely compelling.
I also finished The Well of Lost Plots. I didn't think it was quite as good as Lost in a Good Book, but it was a lot of fun. Fforde just makes me love books! I totally want a dodo. I can't wait to read the next. She better get Landen back!
