Is the latest chapter a joke?
I'm really torn between being disappointed and feeling that I should have known better. I was really liking the serious tone that was going on and, well, was hoping it would have kept on. Which it kind-of did with Luffy being so upset by flashbacks that he ran head first into a wall.
But then the mushrooms and the gang of half naked women showed up and I sort-a deflated. Amazons, Oda? Really? Seriously? I know One Piece is lightheared but, this chapter really just, killed, any sort of tone you were going for earlier.
I don't know, maybe I'd like the concept more if I was a horny teenage boy. But, uh, I'm not. Remember the early days of One Piece where we didn't have to worry about fanservice everywhere? Or when it did show up we (we as in straight woman or guy men I guess) could just roll our eyes and move on. Like the baths in Alabasta?
Well, it's getting harder for me to just smile and move on when it's starting to get out of hand. (To my tastes anyway.)
So it seems that Kuma really did seperate everyone. (How will Zoro EVER find his why back?)This may get really long if each straw hat has his or her own journey back complete with new friends and *wacky* situations. I mean, there's nine of them-- and if I just through out, how about, three chapters for each that's 27 chapters to read before they reach the merman/fishman island. (And that's what 5-6 months?) *sigh*
We'll never find out what happens to Ace if we have to wait through all of that!
At least we know that Sunny's not going to be set on fire or anything. That's good.
Well, dispite my misgivings I still have faith that this won't necessarily be a very long and strange diversion from the main plot.
P.S. Sanji would KILL to be in Luffy's place right now. KILL
