FM October - Reunion
He had been away from Smallville for a long time now. It wasn't like he couldn't be there in a flash if he didn't want to so why hadn't he gone back in so long?
This time of year there would be stacks of corn and pumpkins everywhere as the town prepared for Halloween. The air would be crisp and there might even be frost on the ground in the mornings. The whole world would seem to be decorated in the warm blaze of fall. Red, yellow, and orange under a sky of intense blue were the hues of his home right now.
And that was it wasn't it? He still thought of Smallville as home even now. LA just seemed so washed out of color sometimes. Clark wanted to walk through open fields and not see buildings everywhere. Even though Shannon was here and that should be enough.
Clark wasn't quite ready to go back to the farm yet, but he needed a change for the day.
When he left LA and ran East he found himself in Metropolis at the Daily Planet building. The halls and the elevator held the occasional person that knew him. Some of the people he knew looked surprised to see him, others looked like they had just seen him yesterday and he'd never been away.
And behind one desk he had spent a lot of time at there was a gleam of golden hair that made him smile. The smile never left his face even when she leaped into his arms for a hug and then hit him in the chest and yelled at him for never calling.
"Hey Chloe. It's good to be home."
