Recovered it yesterday. Lesters were shorthanded but Sim let me use the tools and paw my way through various parts boxes.
Coil tested out fine, CDI was fine, generator was shagged. Replaced generator and it is running again - although I am getting a spinning noise like the starter motor for a little while when the revs drop off.
Sounds like sod all there, but was still a good couple of hours work!
On the plus side I am a good deal more optomistic about doing the camchain now.
