Tokyo Game Show 2010

On September 18, 2010, a group of people from my dorm went to Tokyo Game Show! Tokyo Game Show (or TGS) Is an annual 2 day video game convention help by Tokyo Game. This conference showcases new games to come, games to play, and merchandise to buy. It was a bit of a commute to get there but it was very much worth it. I hadn't heard of Tokyo Game Show before but when someone told me it was like the E3 of Japan, I had a good idea of what to expect. I was so excited because I've always wanted to go to E3, but it's an invitation only event, to it's pretty difficult to attend. Tokyo Game Show is open to the public, with an average of 200,000 visitors annually! That's a lot of gamers.

There were a lot of bright lights, demonstrations, and people excitedly chatting and walking around.

I recently attended a cosplay workshop at Sophia University and it reminded me of TGS. There were a lot of cosplayers present at the event and it made me think of why people dress up as certain fictional characters. For me, I used to cosplay at anime conventions and it was so much fun! I enjoyed the process of finding that perfect character or person to cosplay, finding the right fabrics, accessories, embodying the persona of that character; everything. It's really as if you are becoming that character. It's more than just dressing up for fun.

The video below is my footage and perspective of TGS 2010, you can seeing people playing video games, cosplayers, and more!
