tat's a summary for Hk and Taipei! lionheart81 April 25 2005, 04:55:00 UTC
HK: err i'm not too sure abt the high-end shoppin malls, but there're cheap and interestin stuffs u can pick up frm the ladies' st and men's st for souvenirs. other than tat, ocean park can giv it a miss. if u're headin down after sep 12... the disneyland is up @ lantau island. tat's where u can get to visit the largest statue of buddha and climb the 273-flights of stepz! repulse bay offers a scenic view of the high-end accommodations and the famous temple nearby has this longevity bridge + marriage stone (believed to be quite effective!). oh yes, hw can u forget the Peak! best to visit Peak ard sunset times instead of the night. coz tat's when u can get to see the daylight + night time view of HK. lastly, do try and take the craft @ victoria harbour for a fun ride on the sea. tink u can do all these within 3D/2N. Tsim Sha Shui has the famous dessert outlets like Xu Liu Shan and Tang Dynasty. Nathan St offers Old wives' biscuits and almond pastries, etc. Do chk out the New Terrorities for this famous temple and the wishing tree... ;D Btw, food and cold drinks r expensive in HK...

Taipei: There're basically 6 night markets u can visit, the more famous ones will be Hua Si Alley (aka snake alley), Xi Men Ding and Shi Lin Market. Yang Ming Shan has excellent view and encouraged to be there before 5pm so that its not too hot or dark. Downhill, Beitou offers chances to soak urself in their hotsprings. Free, public ones r quite limited though. So be prepared to pay ard NT$500 for a dip at the commercialized ones! eRm... not too sure if u're into visiting the palace (gu-gong) and of course, the Taipei 101 wif its newly built observatory to overlook the town. Eh, Chiang Kai Shek Memorial hall, Sun yatsen memorial hall, try to be there be4 5pm coz sometimes they might have flea markts set up. best time wld be in the morning ard 10am, where the sun isn't too hot. the longest i've stayed in taipei is 8days...
