I do believe tonight was a success. At least, from an optimistic point of view.
We went and saw the movie (Hitman was actually pretty cool, in the sense of an action/thriller movie. Not excessively bloody-gory, but lots of people getting blasted with about every kind of weapon imaginable. Lots of headshots, too), and then stopped to grab something to eat at a diner that was nearby. I was a little surprised because she was the one who suggested going to go hit something else up after the movie was over, but it was a pleasant sort of surprise. So we ate, and actually spent a good hour and a half just throwing winter stories back and forth; it was kind of good to be able to relate in that respect, considering we live within driving distance from each other. But it was Sunday, and things close up early on Sundays.. so they started turning lights and things off about 8:00, and we had to get up and going.
So we went out to the car to decide where else to go, (I forgot to mention at this point that we just left her car at the cinema's parking lot and used my car for all the rest of the night, if not for simplicity's sake, to at least save her a bit of gas in the process) and I realized that Meijer was really the only place still open around here, even if it was a supermarket. But on an ever bigger surprise, she suggested it herself. So I said yeah, I didn't have a problem with it. So we did, in fact, go wander around Meijer for about an hour or so. We went and looked at all the Christmas stuff, then all the birds, hamsters, goldfish, and etc. And we looked through all the DVDs and such, and she rattled off a list of ones that she liked, and ones I'd never seen and never heard of, but I nodded and laughed anyway. She said she guessed we'd have to have a movie night soon, so I could see some of the ones she insisted upon (like the one we just had). So we wandered, and talked, and eventually she decided she'd best get home before the weather started up again (it was at a pause, for the most part, while we were out and about).
So yeah, all in all, I think it went pretty well. As a person, I think she is really cool; she's not completely a girly-girl, but her laugh is really high-pitched and cute, and she sifts through everything at the store while making comments about each thing she picks through. She likes violent video games and movies (but has said she isn't a big fan of straight-horror), and is really easy to talk to, even if the basis of most our conversations so far has been about Michigan's winters. She's very agreeable, and doesn't strike me as the judgmental type. I can't be sure where it'll go from here, but if there's one thing I have a lot of, its time.
And me? I'm pleased. More so than I've been in a long time.
