I deliberately left out the addition of a DVD-RW (burner) to my new computer 'cause I'd already bought a plug-and-play one at Circuit City a couple months before, and figured the CD-RW/DVD-R it came with was fine enough. My external hard drive is pretty full up with various crap that I've been collecting over the half year or so (mostly my anime collection), so when I plugged in my DVD burner, my system didn't detect it anywhere; I checked all the USB ports, and even tried manually searching for hardware connected to the PC. Didn't come up with a thing. So that's wonderful; I just gave the DVD Burner to Jake and told him I'd just bring my external HD in sometime when he's not using his computer, and burn some stuff using his.
I don't know if there's an incompatibility issue somewhere, or if there's something more I need to do. I'll have Jake plug it in later and see if his computer detects it, but it didn't come with any software or drivers CD; its just a 'plug it in and go' USB plug-in device.
And on something of the same note, apparently there's a Super Saiyan-powered firewall somewhere on here, too, 'cause after trying three different torrent clients, none of them will download anything, even one I checked with 100+ seeds. It just stays at 0.0%, and doesn't move anywhere.
I'm really having second thoughts about this.
