(no subject)
Had a wipe/reformat again. Fortunately, most of my 'collection' stuff (funny sh*t from 4chan, my anime/movies, and etc.) was saved, due to keeping them on my secondary hard drive. Still, getting back all my programs that weren't (and all the drivers for everything I had, ugh) is going to be a pain in the ass.
I don't know facts, but sometime between me going to bed Monday night and coming home to check my computer Tuesday afternoon at lunch break, -somebody- had been on there.. and had leaked something volatile in there. I had popups upon popups upon popups, virus warnings, and to top it all off, a warning of 'Your PC has been compromised; remote PC access has taken over this PC and is using it to do etc. etc. etc.!' So that was an awful cheery rest-of-the-day; I pretty much just unhooked the internet and left it there until after work, when I could get father to help look at it. The PC compromisation thing had him scared sh*tless, too.
And, not to (overly so) point fingers, but father has his own computer, as does Jake, and Jan only uses father's computer.. so there's only one person it could have been, really.
I think father was more pissed off about it than I was. Not to say I wasn't/am not, period, but he was absolutely livid. I have a feeling this may be the last time Jer ever sees the light of a computer screen for a long time. Or until father caves in again, anyway. Me? I'm passwording this f*cker out, and turning the guest account off.
At Jake's suggestion, I've discarded Internet Explorer and gotten this 'Firefox' whatchamacallit browser, instead. It doesn't seem too different, but looking for the browser on the desktop takes a little more effort, since now I'm not looking for a big blue 'e'.
Also, father's going to call my Uncle Tom and get details from him on whether or not it's safe to access my online accounts (banking and etc.) from this PC yet or not, even after reformatting and wiping everything out. So until then, I'll have to do all the important stuff on his computer.
*Sigh* Always seems like its something, around here.
