Rhey/Shuji to Akira. Akira and Rhey crash Shuji's apartment.
A/N: For LARK day! :DDDDDD Prompted from this. (Originally posted here.)

Shuji likes to think he can still have peaceful days - those days where all he does is relax and rest and do things that are calming. He thinks today is bound to be one of those days. His mother's gone on another trip. His dad went shopping with his brother. And his friends? Well, he at least hopes his friends are bothering each other so that they won't pester him.

Then the doorbell rings and automatically, he thinks that any hope for a peaceful day is down the drain. Reluctantly, Shuji heads to the door (a little fearful of what would happen if he didn't open the door). When he opens it, he is definitely sure that today is not going to be peaceful. Sighing, he leans against the door and stares at identical grins, "What are you guys doing here?"

Akira has his hands stuffed in his pockets and is grinning cheekily at him. Rhey has one arm intertwined with Akira's and she's almost laughing. They stomp their feet together at the same time and then salute Shuji. "Reporting for duty, sir!" they manage to say almost seriously before bursting into fits of laughter.

It takes Shuji a second to react before he takes a step back and lets the door fall close in front of him. He listens as the two sputter protests before Rhey pushes the door and peeks through the gap.

"That's not very nice," she reprimands and Shuji raises an eyebrow. Shaking his head, he holds the door open, pressing himself against the wall as he allows his friends to walk in. They do so, but not without a struggle as Rhey and Akira still have their arms intertwined and it seems to become a game with them as they try to see who can get into the room the fastest with their arms still linked. Shuji watches this with amused eyes and shakes his head as he closes the door behind him.

At least it wouldn't be boring, he assures himself. But then he hears the crash of his friends, Shuji hopes it's not the type of excitement that he's used to when it comes to that pair.

He finds out a moment later that the reason they had come was to learn how to cook. "You're joking," Shuji says incredulously, staring at the grinning faces of his best friends.

"Not at all, Shuji-kun!" Akira chirps.

"We're asking for you to pass down your genius ways," Rhey says in a flurish and Akira and her burst into laughter seconds later. Shuji is at a loss as he tries to decide whether he wants to cry right then and there (except not really, because he would most definitely not cry) or to push them out of the apartment and forget they even arrived.

"You guys can barely boil water. What makes you think I can help you cook a meal?" Shuji asks, his hands at his hips as he frowns down at the two friends on the couch. They grin up at him widely and Shuji can almost feel the headache coming on.

"We know you can do it!" Rhey urges, nodding to prove her point further.

"Work hard!" Akira adds on, shaking a fist in the air.

Shuji sighs, but he bends. He can't help but succumb to the whims of his friends sometimes and now is just one of those times.

"Akira, you're supposed to be cutting the onions, not shoving it around awkwardly like that."

"But what if I start crying?! I don't wanna cry, Shuji-kun!"

"Rhey, didn't I tell you to cut the carrots, not eat them?"

"Well, they're so small and round and I like carrots!"

"What the?! Wasn't someone watching the water?!"

"Rhey, Rhey! Look, look! My name is Potato Head! Won't you find my eyes and face for me? They seem to have fallen."

Shuji wants to fall over and run in the other direction right about now. He's really the only one cooking as Akira and Rhey have taken to pretending each ingredient is a person or something of the sort and making up fake voices for them.

"Akira, that's Jamaican. A pepper wouldn't have a Jamaican accent!" (Shuji agrees whole-heartedly.) "It should definitely be the ginger who has the Jamaican accent."

"No, no, no. Ginger should have a girl voice like hi, Mr. Pepper~ You're looking might fine." Akira says in a high falsetto, before slapping his hand over his knee in laughter.

Rhey bursts into giggles and she nods in agreement. Shuji hovers over the two, his fists at his waist as he glares at his friends. "Or, you could properly cook like you were supposed to." They look at him guiltily, a ginger in Akira's hand and a lemon in Rhey's. Shuji shakes his head. "Come on, you guys. You wanted to learn how to cook."

They nod, rather reluctantly to boot before standing up and following Shuji back into the kitchen.

The attempt to work only lasts another 10 minutes before Rhey and Akira get into a small food fight behind Shuji's back (although he's not sure how they expect him not to notice when bits of food keep hitting him in the back).

"Okay! That does it! Into the living room with you two!" Shuji exclaims, turning around and shoving his friends out of the kitchen. He listens as the two protest against this, but he's not having it. "Look. I'll just cook dinner for us and you two can play games or something as you wait for food, okay?" They look at him guiltily and he has a pang of sympathy before he turns around and heads back into the kitchen. He ignores Akira's sad sniffle behind him and just walks through the doors, vowing to at least make the dinner be the best thing he's ever cooked.

Dinner gets done much faster than it would've have been if Akira and Rhey were still in the kitchen with him. He's a little disturbed when he hears nothing coming from the living room, but he's positive they haven't left since he heard no sign of the door opening and shutting.

When he walks out, a steaming pot of stew in his hands, he finds Rhey and Akira sitting on the couch, looking rather melancholic. Rhey's scrunched up at one end of the couch, hugging her legs to her knees while Akira's just sprawled on it, his head leaning back as he stares at the ceiling. They're both unnaturally quiet and the thought scares him.

"Guys?" Shuji calls, feeling a little awkward as he wipes his hands on the apron. "Dinner's ready." Their heads turn towards him, and he swears that if this was an anime, there'd be lines somewhere to indicate how depressed they were at this moment. "Guys?" Shuji asks again, his heart pounding. He walks towards them, trying to keep his hands from shaking.

It's Rhey who launches herself at Shuji and he steps back in surprise. "We're so, so, so, so sorry!" she wails and Shuji's taken back.

Akira attacks Shuji a second later and soon Shuji finds himself on the floor, the back of his head stinging and two people's weights on his body. "WE DIDN'T MEAN TO MAKE THIS BORING," Akira practically sobs into his ear.

Shuji laughs lightly, shaking his head and his arms going up to encircle the two people on him. "You guys, it was fun, but I just didn't want to have to attack you with knives in order to get this dinner cooked." He smiles brightly at the two heads who have pulled back slightly just to get a look at him. The cries only get harder and they snuggle into the crook of Shuji's arms, one on each side.

Shuji shakes his head again and sighs, his grip getting tighter and soon theirs does too. Their dinner was bound to get cold soon by the way things were going, but he didn't mind. It wasn't every day, after all, that his head was stinging from pain and his two best friends were hugging him for all he was worth. He had to say that he rather liked this feeling.
