Drabble Batch 3 - JE/J!Actress

Mar 31, 2014 15:18

These were written in my request post ages ago and just never properly posted. So here.

For sinonymity:

Curiosity
180 words, Horikita Maki/Ninomiya Kazunari
"justice league!je - maki as wonder woman, nino as batman (HA), aiba as the flash, your casting preferences for any others?" Written here.

Maki looks over at him, eyebrow raised. "So, you'd never be in a relationship?"

Nino dodges a punch from one creature and delivers a punch to another. "Is this really the time for this conversation?"

"I don't see why it wouldn't be," Maki says easily, managing to throw one creature into another. "It's not like this fight is too occupying." One of the creatures makes a noise, probably offended by Maki's comment, but she's not really sure.

"I would beg to differ," Nino grunts, managing a roll to avoid multiple grabs.

"In the time you've spent arguing, you could've just answered and saved us the trouble."

"And why would I do something like that?"

Maki lands in front of Nino, smiling brightly. "To satisfy my curiosity."

He glares in return. "That's why I do anything, huh?"

"Obviously. So how about it?"

"Not. Answering." Before Maki can argue otherwise, Nino pulls out his grappling gun and aims it at a nearby rooftop, zipping away.

"You do realize I can fly, right?" Maki yells after his back before sighing with a shake of her head. "Always avoids the issue."

Mask to Mars
58 words, Kitagawa Keiko/Ninomiya Kazunari
"ninokeiko as tuxedo mask and sailor mars (au or not)." Written here.

Keiko laughs as Nino turns around, handing her the rose. "I always loved Mars more than Moon," he says. The other Arashi members laugh, off to the side, and Keiko gives Nino a thumbs-up.

"That's exactly what Mars would like to hear from Tuxedo Mask," Keiko says to the other Tuxedo Masks. Nino winks and salutes the camera.

Up For a Break
187 words, Horikita Maki/Sakurai Sho
"shomaki. yeah, i'm going to need more of that flying au." Written here.

They almost catch up to Meisa in Paris. Maki knows that Meisa has learnt to go from town to town without trouble, but this much traveling is starting wear on her.

"We can take a break," Sho suggests. Maki looks over at him with a harsh glare. "Maki, we were able to pick up her steps in China after six months had passed. I'm pretty sure taking a week to recuperate won't stop us from finding her again."

"But we're so close," Maki argues, voice desperate. This time, Maki was positive that Meisa had been in Paris only a week and a half since they'd arrived.

"And we'll catch up again, but you're going to collapse if we keep going at this pace, and I cannot pilot this thing."

"You'd think after months in the air, you would've gotten used to heights by now."

"Only because I forget we're up here."

Maki laughs and looks for the nearest landing spot. She has to admit, a rest sounds really good. And Meisa knows, or at least Maki thinks she should know, that Maki will always be looking for her. (But Paris is Paris.)

Look Where Your Heart Is
197 words, Horikita Maki/Nishikido Ryo
Iron Man!AU. "ryomaki. look where your heart is." Written here.

"Just--" Ryo gasps as Maki slowly inserts her hand into the hole in the middle of his chest. Her face is a combination of concentration and trepidation.

"It'll be okay," she murmurs, and Ryo knows, because he designed this whole thing and he knows that this stray wire will not ruin anything or kill him, but he lets her say it anyway. It seems to calm her down more than anything.

"Just make sure not to--" he starts, but Maki's already pulled the wire full out of the hole along with the magnet at the end. "Oh. Well."

Maki's eyes go wide, panic quickly filling them. "What just happened? Why is everything beeping?"

"I'm about to go into cardiac arrest, nothing big," Ryo manages, but he can already feel his breath quickening. He doesn't want her to know though, wouldn't ever want her to realize. "Just put the replacement in and it'll be okay."

Maki acts quickly and carefully, replacing the device, and they both let out a big sigh of relief when the machines stop beeping. "See," Ryo says with an awkward smile. "I told you it wouldn't be too important." Maki's expression is a combination of exasperation and relief.

Decorating
97 words, Horikita Maki/Masuda Takahisa
Temporarily Complicated!AU. "massumaki. silver tiles." Written here.

"No."

Massu sighs and puts the silver tiles on the table. "I said the same to Tegoshi, but he won't budge."

Maki purses her lips. "We could always give him those living room curtains he wants."

"That flowery mess is better than silver tiles?"

"You'd think the flowers would call to you," Maki quips as she looks over his obnoxiously red, orange, yellow flowered pajama pants.

"Cool to wear, not entirely sure how it works as furniture. I'd rather the silver to the curtains."

"But silver? What would our bathroom be? A discotheque?"

Massu can't stop laughing for a good two minutes.

Bright Ideas
187 words, Horikita Maki/Masuda Takahisa/Tegoshi Yuya
Tegomassuki!AU "tegomassuki. three's company." Written here.

"We should move in together!" Tegoshi greets when he strides into the green room.

Both Massu and Maki look up from their respective sheets, look at each other, then right back to their sheets.

Tegoshi frowns, dropping his bag near the couch. "What? It's not like we don't spend a lot of time at each other's apartments anyway."

Maki sighs, putting down her papers. "Tegoshi, you know that if you're having problems..." The words trail off, but Maki doesn't have to continue them.

"That's not it! I was just watching something where three people were roommates and they were having loads of fun and I thought we could do that too!"

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure this would be an awful idea," Massu says. "I think we see each other too much for this to work."

Tegoshi frowns. "Just you watch."

It's months later when they're told that for a week, they'll be living together for a tv show. Massu and Maki exchange looks when they find out the news, before turning to Tegoshi. Tegoshi looks a little too interested in the papers in front of him, a suspicious grin on his lips.

All For The Cameras
518 words, Horikita Maki/Masuda Takahisa/Tegoshi Yuya, hint of Horikita Maki/Yamashita Tomohisa
Tegomassuki!AU. "Tegomassuki, living together for a week." Continuation of above. Written here.

Most of Maki would like to stay in her own room during this whole process, except there's a camera in there too. There are a frightening amount of cameras in their apartment, and it annoys her to no end that Tegoshi had convinced someone, or had even spoken to someone about the idea.

It must be obvious because their manager pulls her aside before they leave the van to start their new life (at least for a week). "I know this isn't what you'd like to be doing, Maki-chan, but unfortunately--" he trails off, but Maki knows this speech. She's heard it in different forms and about different things, but it all boils down to "this is your job, this is your responsibility."

Maki pulls on a smile. "I understand." When she hops out, she makes sure this smile stays on.

That is until she has to go to the bathroom. It's the only room in the house that does not have a camera.

It becomes a bit of a refuge for them, the three of them meet inside the bathroom for a break from all the eyes. They're not technically on them, but the idea that any of their daily activities--eating, having drama night, singing--could be televised for all to see starts to wear on them after the second day.

"I'm sorry," Tegoshi tells them on the third night. "I--I just thought it'd be so much fun living together, and I wanted you both to see that too."

Massu sighs, sitting on the edge of the bathtub. "I'm sure it would be. Just not so much in front of cameras is all."

"Maybe we should make the best of this," Maki suggests. "I mean, it's only four more days. We can do four more days. At least we weren't made to do challenges, or forced to live in a certain way. All they told us to do was be ourselves, have fun."

Tegoshi grins. "And Tegomassuki has all the fun, right?"

"Of course!" Massu cheers, putting his hand in the middle of them. Maki giggles and puts hers on top of Massu, then Tegoshi puts his on top of hers. "Tegomassuki!" they all cheer.

Maki gets up, but pauses at the doorknob. "You know, I never realized how weird this must look to the cameras."

"What do you mean?" Massu asks, eyebrows furrowed.

"Well, the three of us enter a bathroom at the same time. Stay there for a bit and then come out together. Wouldn't you think something suspicious is going on?"

Massu and Tegoshi laugh. "No way!"

(A few months later, when their special is finally aired, Yamapi calls her during the third commercial break. "What were you guys doing in that bathroom?!"

Maki giggles into her phone. "For me to know, you to not," she sing-songs before hanging up.

Massu raises an eyebrow. "I feel like that's just going to make him come here."

"Well, maybe that was the plan," Maki says with a grin.

Tegoshi shushes them both, eyes glued to the television. "It's coming back!"

"We lived that," Massu retorts. "It's not like you're going to find any surprises."

"But this is different," Tegoshi argues. "Now shush.")

It's Always Ghosts
169 words, Arashi
"je!scooby doo (did i ever request this before?). casting of your choice." Written here.

"It's a ghost, I'm telling you!" Aiba says, cowering behind Nino, trembling hands cling to Nino's shoulders. Nino smacks the hands off of him.

"It's never ghosts," Nino argues, smacking another of Aiba's wandering hands. "Typically all we get are lame-os who seem to think getting into ghost costumes is the way to scare people off."

"Yeah, as though they're not obviously fake," Jun sighs, shaking his head.

"Well, if that's the case, we have to catch this person. Otherwise, they're going to get away with the crime," Sho says.

"And you have the perfect plan for that, right?"

Sho gives Nino a disapproving stare, before launching into his explanation. Aiba has managed to edge away from the group enough, moving from behind Nino to behind Ohno. Ohno who is so obviously not paying any attention. "Oh-chan, we should leave them to their plan," Aiba whispers.

Ohno looks over at him blankly before smiling. "Sure. Can we go raid the kitchen? I'm hungry."

Aiba blinks then shrugs. "Sure. I doubt any ghost would haunt the refrigerator."

Traveling
67 words, Kuroki Meisa/Yamashita Tomohisa
"pokemon!je au. casting of your choice." Written here.

"You owe me a bike!" Meisa snaps.

"That doesn't mean you have to travel with me," Yamapi reasons, trying to walk faster. Pikachu cowers slightly on Yamapi's shoulder, avoiding Meisa's gaze. Traitor, Yamapi thinks.

Meisa's fast on her feet and is always right beside him. "You might forget."

"Unless I got you that bike right now, I have no choice, do I?"

Meisa's grin is wide and slightly sinister. "Nope."

Only a Train Ride
329 words, Horikita Maki/Ninomiya Kazunari
"ninomaki. strangers on a train au." Written here.

It's a long four hour ride back to Tokyo from Akita, and Nino dreads the journey. He's sure he'll likely sleep through the entire thing, but he'd had to drink a cup of coffee to wake up for the 6:05am train and he's still jittery from it. His mind is even too fuzzy to play any game on his 3DS which, if any of his friends heard him say that, they would gasp exaggeratedly, hand to mouth even. A bit of him twinges thinking of his friends; it's been a month since he was last in Tokyo and he has to admit that not seeing their stupid faces has been a tough. Not that he would ever tell them that.

Nino shifts in his chair, pushing the feeling of homesickness away, a talent he's well practiced in.

The car is fairly empty, which Nino attributes to the obnoxiously early hour. A minute to departure, a female runs into the car, panting hard as she walks down the aisle. Putting her bag into a seat across the aisle from Nino's seat, she sits on the other side of the four seater, giving Nino a perfect view. She exhales deeply, hand to her chest. Her bangs are matted to her forehead with sweat and she musses with it, as well the rest of short, black hair.

She must feel his gaze, because she looks up. Nino stares, trying to steel his expression, as she gives him a bright smile. He's the first to break the connection and he forces himself to look out the window.

The train starts to move, announcing their journey to Tokyo and Nino exhales. It's a long four ride, but at least he has company. Nino sneaks a glance and finds her looking out the window as well, eyes soft and peaceful. That smile she gave is still on her lips, and he won't admit that it makes his heart skip a beat.

He turns back at his own window.

Fringe
217 words, Horikita Maki/Yamashita Tomohisa
"yamapimaki. for the first time." Written here.

She's 17, Yamapi reminds himself when she steps onto the set. Even though Horikita Maki's hair is already set to the creepy Ring-esque hairstyle in preparation for their first shoot, there's still a bright smile on her lips, as though to offset the rest of her appearance. The contrast amuses Yamapi to no end, to the point that he doesn't even notice when she's in front of him with her bright smile and long hair covering her eyes.

The shriek that comes out of his lips is not his own, he swears.

The laughter that comes from her bubbles out steadily.

"I--" he starts, but Maki shakes her head.

"I scared my manager too," Maki says. "It probably won't be the last."

Yamapi flushes and watches as she walks over to the photographer, bowing her greeting. Someone shrieks lightly in his ear, a cruel imitation of his, and it surprises Yamapi so much that he jumps. Turning to his side, Yamapi scowls in finding a smirking Kame.

"Didn't realize you were so easily frightened."

"I'm not!" Yamapi insists, but Kame has already gone over to the photographer, bowing his own greeting. Yamapi scowls and stomps over, wondering if this drama will feel as long as it already does.

(True to her word, it is not the last time Maki frightens Yamapi, nor Kame's.)

Love at First Sight
220 words, Aiba Masaki/Kanjiya Shihori
"aibashihori. i don't believe in love at first sight." Written here.

Shihori doesn't believe in love at first sight. She says as much to Aiba when he asks her, saying it's for research. (Which, Shihori didn't even realize Aiba did research. And for what?)

The crest-fallen expression Aiba has startles her. "Why?" she asks, suspiciously. "Is there some--"

Aiba's grin comes back quickly. "Of course not!" he says, before bounding over to Kaneko Nobuaki, presumably to ask the very same question.

(Much later, Shihori asks him, "Why were you asking about love at first sight?"

Aiba flushes, a deep red that spreads over his cheeks and ears (it's annoying to her how adorable that is). "I--I wanted to see if others thought it was possible."

"And why?"

"Because I was pretty sure I'd fallen for you at first sight." The words are more of a mumble than anything, but Shihori hears them loud and clear. She affectionately ruffles her hair before taking his face in her hands.

"You can be rather sweet, huh, Masaki?" She quickly pecks him on the lips and pulls back, the brightest smile on his lips. Shihori kisses him again. "You'd forgotten, you know," she says as she leans her forehead against his. "To ask what I even thought of you at first sight."

Aiba blinks at her. "What did you think?"

"Ah, I think he's someone I could grow to love."

This time, Aiba kisses her.)

High School
238 words, Ishihara Satomi/Ohno Satoshi
"ohnosatomi, ANY au where they are happy. there's a name for people like you." Written here.

"Shouldn't you be at practice?" Satomi asks, finding Ohno in his usual hiding spot, right under the bleachers of the gym where he naps during club hours.

Ohno yawns, stretching as best he can without hitting anything. "Is that still going on? Not time to leave yet?"

Satomi rolls her eyes, tugging him out of the bleachers and towards the tiny room that was assigned to the Air Hockey team. This is a familiar march as Ohno never shows up for practice at the beginning.

"You found him!" Aiba greets them cheerfully.

"Wasn't too hard this time," Satomi says, pushing Ohno towards his spot. "He didn't even try to hide very well."

"And waste time sleeping?" Ohno mutters.

Nino cackles, slapping a hand on his back. "Or are you just making sure she can find you?" Ohno pushes the flush that starts in his neck down as hard as he can.

They practice one game and Ohno, as usual, is perfect in his role. He flashes a smile at Satomi who rolls her eyes again. "There's a name for people like you," she retorts.

"And what's that?"

"Cocky."

Nino grins, tugging Ohno towards him. "I think it's more like Genius." Ohno can't stop himself from laughing, Satomi joins in a second later.

"Maybe," she relents. "But you still should come to practice on time."

Ohno shrugs. "Maybe."

(He never does, but half the fun for him in being in Air Hockey is Satomi having to find him every day.)

Late for a Very Important Date
190 words, Horikita Maki, Sakurai Sho
"MAKI IN ARASHIWONDERLAND" Written here.

Maki knows as soon as she wakes up that everything is all wrong. But she doesn't have time to wonder because a man with furry white long rabbit ears at the top of his head has been shaking her.

"Finally!" he exclaims, pulling out his stopwatch, opening it and clapping it shut just as quickly. "You know the Queen cannot stand lateness." Maki stares wide-eyed as she pushes away from the tree she'd been leaning against.

"Sho-kun?" she asks, perplexed, because he--the rabbit?--looks exactly like Sho, but last she remembered, Sho did not have rabbit ears.

Sho's eyes narrow. "Princess, you told me to wake you and that it was important. Why are we still standing here?" He turns on his heel, rushing down the path.

"Wait!" Maki calls out, but he's much too fast, and really, Maki is a little distracted by what looks to be a bunny tail behind him, white, fluffy and puffy, to follow immediately. She bites her lip and hopes that the path she's walking down is the right one. (Or in fact leads her any way; she's not entirely certain that she's even awake right now.)

Sold to the Highest Bidder
371 words, Arashi
"arashi as real mannequins who come alive when the lights go out. crushes on female customers, someone's entire outfit getting sold, etc." Written here.

Aiba gets the most attention, but is less likely to have people buy his outfits. They all figure it's because his pants are always cut short, never the full length, and while it looks good on Aiba, it never looks good on normal people. For a while, he tries to get away from that look, but it doesn't work any better so he eventually goes back.

Sho's outfits seem to alternate between the extremes. Sometimes, his outfits are a favorite with business men, neat enough to wear to a work event but also casual enough that it can be worn regularly. The other times tend to be a joke of the attendants who try to come up with the most obnoxious outfit they can get away with--strange headdresses and harem pants and honestly, if Sho was human, he'd be embarrassed with all this. Double parkas, who thinks of that?!

Nino gets purchased rather frequently. His outfits are tame and normal and casual (once he even has an outfit that looks exactly the same as another mannequin on the other side of the store), and he never wastes any time bragging about his constant purchases.

Ohno's outfits are simple and safe, which means most of the time, he gets overlooked. It doesn't really bother him much because he does get purchased at least three to four times out of five. But it's when he has items related to fishing that he gets the most passionate. "It's lures, how could that not be interesting!"

It's Jun that seems the most questionable. With his sharp looks, he tends to be dressed in flashy outfits that no normal person would wear. Except they work because it's on Jun. (Well, except when they don't. A whole flowery track suit?) The most mild outfit is boring on Jun so they've long since learnt to steer clear of those choices.

But really, it's a combination of the five that makes the shop popular with buyers. The variety brings in different types of people and despite the unpopularity of a whole outfit, at least one or two pieces will always be sold when worn by any of the five.

Down By the Pier
180 words, Ishihara Satomi/Ohno Satoshi
"hunger games!je - where ohno is finnick and satomi is his annie." Written here.

"Any good catches?" Satomi asks.

Ohno looks up abruptly, almost losing his grip on his fishing pole. He watches mutely as Satomi sits beside him on the pier's edge, dangling her feet above the water. She's too short to actually touch the water, but as her legs swing back and forth, the water ripples underneath them. Nobody speaks to him, not after the Games, so the fact that Satomi Ishihara, sweet-faced Satomi-chan, is sitting beside him stuns him.

She smiles at him, the brightness overwhelming. "Is that a no?"

"I--" Ohno starts, before the pole's tug steals his attention. Ohno starts yanking and reeling in whatever catch is fighting him. He feels Satomi's small hands cover his as she tries to pull back as well. Ohno doesn't have time to think on this, and instead reels in as fast as he can. They manage to capture a nearly 5ft bluefin tuna that has Satomi squealing at the size and how good a fisherman he is.

Ohno vows to himself to protect that innocence, no matter what.

She's chosen as a tribute that very year.

Surroundings
123 words, Ishihara Satomi/Ohno Satoshi
"hunger games!ohnosatomi. don't listen to a word i say, the screams all sound the same." Written here.

Ohno holds her hand tightly, as though afraid that if he lets go, Satomi will float back into the ocean. (He had caught her at the ocean's edge one too many times as it was.)

"They're all around us," Satomi murmurs to him as they walk through the halls of District 13. "Don't you feel it, Satoshi? they're surrounding us."

He doesn't know what she's talking about, rarely does, but that doesn't stop him from tucking her under his arm and pressing her close to his side. "I do," he says. "I'll protect you."

Satomi looks up at him, a hand finding a piece of his shirt to grip onto, and she smiles, a familiar smile that makes his heart tremble with pain. "You always do."

For dalampasigan:

"I Volunteer"
215 words, Kuroki Meisa/Yamashita Tomohisa
"hunger games!JE where katniss is riisa or meisa. your choice of peeta." Written here.

"I volunteer as tribute," Meisa yells. The words are ripped out of her throat before she can even think of what she's saying, but once said, she's confident in her choice. There's no way she could allow Maki to participate in the Hunger Games.

She doesn't look back at Maki's face--likely frightened and panicked--as she walks up to the stage, and when she's finally standing there, she can't find Maki in the crowd. After a minute, Meisa stops trying, hoping this just means Maki's safe. Just like she'd intended.

"Well, okay then," Shinohara Ryoko says into the microphone. Her high pitched voice grates on Meisa's nerves. "Then our boy tribute for District 12 is..." She fishes a name out of the bowl and calls out, "Tomohisa Yamashita."

Meisa looks over at the bread maker's son, his dull eyes empty of emotion. Whether that's from fear or surprise, Meisa's not sure, but even after some time for the news to surely register, Yamapi, as he's commonly called, still doesn't have any emotion in his eyes as he comes to stand beside her.

I have to get back, Meisa vows as she looks back out into the crowd. Finally, she finds Maki, her hand clenched in Jun's hand. Mentally she relaxes; at least Maki is in safe hands.

Bravery
310 words, Ishihara Satomi, Yamashita Tomohisa
"JE/Hunger Games: No one wanted to Tell Satomi that Satoshi was dead, but someone had to do it. Your choice on who that someone is T_____T" Written here.

Yamapi seeks her out first. If it'd been him, if it'd been Meisa for him... He swallows the thought, wondering faintly about the thudding of his heart, as he often does when it comes to Meisa, Real or Not Real? The answer resonates inside his chest. Real. The confidence in the word is the only thing that propels him to knock on the door.

"Satomi," he calls out and he hears a noise inside that he figures is a Yes.

The Satomi inside reminds him of the same Satomi he'd seen when they were captured in the Capitol--withdrawn and gaunt and frightened. She cowers in the corner, blankets tucked around her body, and her eyes haunt him. The reminder of the past nearly tears the breath from his throat, the words from his lips, and any strength from his legs, but Yamapi forces himself to walk over to her.

He doesn't sit too close, knowing that proximity won't help in this case. He's not Ohno.

"He--" Yamapi starts, but he doesn't know what words he even wants to say.

"I know," she whispers, words hoarse from an unused voice.

"I know," he echoes. Because she's smarter than that, she would've noticed who had come back and who hadn't. "He--was brave," Yamapi says, the only words he can think to say.

The laugh she gives is half-misery and half-glee. "He always was."

They sit in silence before Yamapi leans over to pat Satomi in the head. She flinches for a second, but moves closer to him, leaning forward so that her eyes are covered by her hair. "Thanks," she murmurs.

"Yeah."

Yamapi walks out, not sure if he'd done anything--probably hadn't--but it felt right. Real, he thinks. Satomi's feelings for Ohno would always be Real, no matter what.

(He finds out later that she's pregnant with Ohno's child and vows to send her something, anything in celebration.)

Dressing for the Occasion
120 words, Masuda Takahisa/Naka Riisa
"massuriisa - shopping for maternity clothes together." Written here.

"What about this shirt?" Massu asks, holding up the same shirt in different colors. He falters when he notices Riisa standing in front of a mirror, her hand over a still flat stomach. He smiles and walks up to her. "Are you nervous?"

Riisa looks at him through the mirror, hand never moving from her stomach. A soft smile grows on her lips. "No," she says, but then follows it with a sigh and a "Yes."

He puts the shirt in front of her. "You'll be great."

"And awesomely dressed to boot?" Riisa asks as she poses with the shirt.

"I'll make sure of it." Riisa laughs, tugging Massu into a tight hug. The "Thanks" is unspoken, but they both know it's there.
