[From what she's been hearing in journals and seeing around town, Bern has deduced that an 'experiment' that she was warned of before has occurred. She doesn't exactly feel comfortable with people seeing or hearing her thoughts, so she's going to try and avoid people as much as possible while doing her best to keep a blank mind. The best way to do that is to travel around as a cat, avoiding the citizens of Luceti and keeping her journal far away from her person, so it won't be able to record her thoughts (she still doesn't realize that it needs to be open for it to record)
