In my soc class today, a girl was talking about her job in relation to a different microcosm we were discussing. She said that whenever there is someone new working that no one knows, she and the rest of her co-workers are really stand-offish, rude, and it takes about a month for them to feel included and belong there. This is the norm. It is acceptable to her and her co-workers. WHAT!? Where is that ever okay? Goodness girl. Get some perspective. It made me grateful for both my jobs where people go out of their way to make you feel safe and included. THIS GIRL IS A SOCIOLOGY MAJOR.
