Bleach dubs episodes 16-17 (A totally non-life related post)
Well, I saw the latest Bleach dubs. I wrote this while watching the show. So, it's basically me thinking out loud.
And I must say, Renji's VA sounds like a newbie. It's sad that the man voicing him is actually pretty skilled, in other roles at least. His Japanese pronunciation is really bad, he needs to smooth over his accent. Everything and anything he says in another language is just no good. "I am A-bar-eye Renji." "This kid cut a Menohs Grandeh?"
While most people are easily laying the "OMG, HATE" cards, I'll keep an open mind. Some VA is not going to make me hate him. I refuse.
Hmm.... either his voice grows on you, or he got better in 17. I'm listening now and it's a lot better than 16. Hopefully, he'll get used to being Renji and master his voice eventually. I have no problems with changing "howl" to "roar," but I insist on his complete suck at Japanese pronunciation.
"Uh... I really didn't need your help defeating this kid, Captain."
Uh-oh.... dorknes... Oh god. This voice actor... He may suck at sounding mean, but when he sounds dorky, he's LOVE. He has hope to redeem himself yet. Touchy-feely voice: he should keep it forever. Wally whatever-your-name-is, stick to sounding pained, dorky and caring. Leave the battling to people who can scream. (Like Johnny Yong Bosch, even Rukia's VA has improved marginally.)

...I almost forgot how beautiful the Bleach OST was. What a crushing violin...
