Summary: Can Kakashi afford to be late when her life is on the line?
This thing's been overstaying in my hard drive and my evil plotty mind. Hope you like or thought of this plot somehow. :P
“She intends to kill Sasuke herself.”
Kakashi said that line himself but even he, couldn’t seem to believe that it is possible.
It was not that he did not believe in her skills and competency as a shinobi. He surely had a fair idea of what she was capable of. After all, Sakura always leaves such a remarkable impression in every battle she joined in- uprooted trees and earthquake-like chaos everywhere.
However, at the back of his mind he knew that the ever so faithful Sasuke-loving side of her would bring out the worst in her. Clearly, Sakura would never stand a chance against Sasuke as long as her unending love for him dies.
Leaping from tree to tree, Kakashi increased his speed. He couldn’t remember the last time he ran this fast. He could feel blood and adrenaline rushing through his veins with every step and move of his taut body. He could hear his heart pound erratically with every ragged breath he takes.
He was never punctual but he knew that he couldn’t afford to be late this time.
No excuse would be plausible if he sees her lying in the pool of her own blood. A death made by a man she loved unconditionally and by a man who deeply cared for her but was simply just late.
So when he felt a strong surge of familiar lightning chakra and heard the sound of a thousand chirping birds from a far, Kakashi instantly felt his heart made a gut-wrenching drop. He clenched his fists and tried to maintain his composure but he deemed it impossible because her life was on the line.
He believed no excuse would be enough if he let Sakura die because of his poor timekeeping. However, Kakashi most certainly would not forgive himself if his most precious female companion dies in the hands of the man she loves but of his own created technique.
Whatever it takes, he would never let her face death. Hoping desperately, he ran with all his valour before his former student, his tardiness and his own Chidori can kill the life out of her.
