I missed that amazing post about constructive criticism. I wonder where I was...

I actually have a hard time with constructive criticism when it's from someone that I've never encountered before. For some reason my mind immediately interprets it as a flame. Especially after they've read x amount of chapters and only review in y chapter because they found something they took issue with.

It's easier for me to accept when it's someone who I know has been following my story for a while. Although if they've been following my work for a while I have no problem with hearing, "Now Juni, you know the emotions in this were overdone" or "Juni, your plot was predictable." "too much dialogue not enough description." Or whatever they feel is wrong with the story.

If they haven't and they're this new random person then I can accept it if they point out the good along with the bad. Then I'll try to work on whatever it was they felt that I should work on. I'm able to look hard at my work and see if I can see what they're talking about ( ... )

Another was the infamous anon. reviewer. Where the person proceeded to be nasty about the fact that I only wrote Sakura pairings and Sakura is such a slut and such.

If the person didn't like Sakura because she was such a slut, then why bother reading? *scratches head* That is so confusing.

I talked with a few other writers about the ff.net "Fave" feature, and a lot of complaints I heard is that if people liked the story so much, why didn't they review? And I think it goes back to what you were saying, which is sometimes, we just like something, and it is difficult to put into words, especially when you just want to enjoy a damn story and not analyze why.

Another was the infamous anon. reviewer. Where the person proceeded to be nasty about the fact that I only wrote Sakura pairings and Sakura is such a slut and such. That one didn't bother me until they included a spoiler for the next chapter of Naruto that I hadn't even read yet. After that I put this long ass author's note at the top of the next chapter of the story going off.

Good lord, what a pain in the ass. The fact that said anon is upset that you only write Sakura pairings indicates that she's familiar with several of your works...so why even read further (or at all) if she feels that way? *shakeshead* I just don't understand why readers go out of their ( ... )
