Why I Am Happy This Week:

Gay Marriage has been legalized in California! Woohoo!

I will be moving there sometime in the future, and it's so good to know that real marriage is a possibility for me.

EDIT: Now I've finally allowed this information to sink in, and I'm nearly bursting. I can hardly believe how happy I am. How hopeful, optimistic. I've started daydreaming again about finding someone I could spend my life with. And how this....vindication could start the ball rolling for others....well, not really 'start', should probably give Massachusetts and Canada that honor.....but California is a powerful state. A bit of a trends-setter. All lot may come from this. Who knows? Maybe, in ten years or so, marriage equality may have become a nationwide fact.

Also, the commitment ceremony between marriage of Kevin and Scotty on 'Brother and Sisters' just filled me with joy.

I watched it with my mother. Who did provide some frustration earlier that day, insisting that I wasn't gay, that I 'got the idea in my head somehow', that it's not in the family's genetic makeup (it so is), blah, blah, blah. She got real quiet during the show. Which was fine. I was too busy trying not to burst into tears for various reasons to bother communicating. It was still a pretty good Mother's Day. I think she'll come around. She just needs more time.
