Meme-age with a bit of RL thrown in

Jul 22, 2009 13:41

Ugh, I hurt. Like, serious pain whenever I twist my torso.

Stupid me decided that, since it had FINALLY stopped raining after TWO FULL WEEKS of downpour, I would sit outside on the deck to read. It wasn't terribly sunny out, but it was nice and warm with a good breeze.

Of course I didn't bother to put on sunscreen. What's the point when you can't see the sun? *headdesk* Well obviously, I should have. My back and shoulders are a deep lobster red, and the only thing I can wear is a tanktop, because everything else chafes like crazy and puts me in a world of pain. Sunburn and my pale skin do. not. mix. *sigh* At least typing isn't going to hurt, as long as I refrain from pulling my arms up over my head or moving too much in general.

Anyway, my boring life aside, meme time! :D This one is a Word Association Meme, prompted by
genuinelies (genuinelie ). Love you sweetie. <3

One Piece

Maine

LOTR

Betaing (for some reason I think you beta alot?)

Harry Potter

And you know what, for some reason, an orangish yellow (more yellow though). I DON'T KNOW WHY.

Okay, here we go.

One Piece - LOVE. This is my absolute favorite anime, and I just can't get enough of it. I absolutely adore all of the characters, the plot is amazing, and the adventures and hijinks that they all get up to has me laughing so hard sometimes I fall out of my chair. This show is the second anime that I really got into, but will always be my favorite. There's just… a kind of charm, that keeps bringing me back. The only complaint I have is how I have to wait for an episode to come out each week. Maybe I should read the manga as well…

Maine - Home. I live in southern Maine, and I love it here. Granted, the winters suck ass, and are absolutely fucking freezing, but I think the summer makes up for it. We get some rain in the spring (the entire month of it - heh) but summers are beautiful. I live right on the ocean, and one of my favorite things to do is walk along the beach in the early evening, after the tourists leave and stand in the surf. Sometimes I just sit in the sand and look at the ocean. It's really hard to explain the pure pleasure of sitting by the water to someone who has never experienced it, but all I can say is that it has spoiled me for living anywhere else. I will always need to be by the ocean, because when I'm not I feel like there's something essential missing from my life.

LOTR - Actually, this was my first foray into RPS, believe it or not. I really loved the characters, especially everyone in the fellowship. I think my favorites were Merry and Pippin though, but I couldn't really read any fics about them. I don't know what it is, but reading about slashy hobbits just wasn't my thing. So, I learned more about the actors and fell in love with MonaBoyd (Dominic Monaghan/Billy Boyd - aka Merry and Pippin :D). Kinda ironic, but meh *shrugs*. They're just too cute together, and when their accents are written correctly, it's a joy to read. :)

Also - the book ALMOST DROVE ME INSANE! Struggled through the entire thing, though. Eventually.

Betaing - I have always been good at english, and I have been editing essays for my friends since we were in middle school. Once I started reading fanfic, it was an easy transition to offer to edit for writers in fandoms I love. My first full-time beta was with Rin, though. I offered to read through her fics and fix typos and the like, especially since English isn't her first language. I've done several others edits for different people, but Rin was the first one. :D Love you hun! <3

Harry Potter - I started reading this series back in fifth grade, when I was 12. It was fun to get immersed in them and the adventure, and I thought it was really cool that I was about his age as he went along. I have all of the books, and have read them a few times. I actually have two of the fourth book, Goble of Fire, because I couldn't resist buying it when I saw it in the store, and my mom got it for us for Christmas that year. :D I also watch the movies (of course!) and despite the usual dissent when the movie doesn't match up with the book as well as it should, I think they're all great. The special effects get better and better every year, and I can't wait for the seventh one to come out next year.

Orangish-yellow (with more yellow) - Cheese crackers. What? That's the only orangish-yellow thing I can think of (and I'm addicted to them XD). That's all you get for something so vague, sweetie.
Yeah, my rambling tendancies have struck again, I see. *sigh* Ah well, what can you do?

If anyone wants to do this meme, just let me know in the comments. I'll give you a few words to muddle through. :D
