[fic] Falling from Heaven (CI prequel): Chapter 2

Sep 20, 2014 11:33

This has been sitting on my hard drive for the past three weeks waiting to be edited one last time and until now I hadn't been able to pull myself away from LOGH which makes everything I ever write seems like a bad joke. And because I'm not entirely out of that universe, I apologize in advance if this turns out to be the biggest crap of the year ( Read more... )

Hi there! I was wondering how you were. How is your brother? I hope he's getting better. *hugs*

Poor Alejandro trying to play poker with a pair of sharks!
Ahh, that may be true but dear Andy has quite a few things up his sleeves and not afraid to use it either XD

Alexei is a pain and a charmer all in one really. But I don't think Alexei can hold a relationship with anybody, TBH, except his brother who would forgive him over and over again. But I would say that for Alexei, Alejandro does mean more than Fei.

You write so much about this Galactic heroes that makes me curious. I just don't really watch anime anymore.

That was exactly what I told Jelly. "I don't watch anime anymore, period. I prefer books and manga." But since this isn't available in any other format, and it is long enough to get my interest (I don't watch or read anything short) I had to give it a try. But most of all it was because Jelly (and everyone who has been through the 156 episodes) came out mentally unstable, shaking heads and going "Did I just finish the best fucking anime the word has ever seen?" and "Did that shit even qualify as anime???" I might have grown wrinkles and brain tumor for the 2-week marathon of LOGH that abused my brain more than going back to school studying physics, and I definitely am mentally unstable for a month now since I was done with LOGH. It shits on everything else I've ever watched and now I almost can't take any other manga or anime seriously anymore.

The thing is, when you say anime, everyone is expecting this: http://wallfortuner.com/anime-45-3221-background-hd.html. When you watch LOGH, you are pumped full of dialogues like this just about every 2 minutes:

Democratic Yang Wenli to his archenemy Kaiser Reinhard (autocracy): The right to violate the rights of the people belong to the people. In other words, when the people gave power to Rudolf von Goldenbaum, or to an incomparably smaller man like Job Trunicht, the responsibility belongs to the people. It belongs to on one else. Thats the important point. The sin of dictatorship is that the people can push off the failures of government onto one man. Compared to that cardinal sin, the accomplishments of a hundred wise rulers seem small. In addition, your Excellency, a ruler as great as you is exceedingly rare. It’s only natural that your accomplishments and your failures also stand out.

(after trying to kill each other for 50 something episodes, where millions of people die in the process, they sat down together and have a respectable talk over drinks, after which they shook hands and agreed to continue to kill each other as they had been doing. Fighting over boy toy on baccarat table just doesn't happen around here.)

The average age of those 200+ characters are about 30+, there are virtually no girls, only different versions of Feodoras, no fan service, no kyaa moments, nothing that is appropriate for viewers younger than 25 and it has not a single sexual scene in it. The entire series is spun around war and battles and political unrest between ideals of autocracy and democracy, yet there are no antagonists. You root for both, cry for both sides, love the admirals on both sides because you know they are all good men, they just take a different view to things. I've never watched anything so full of men with honor and pride I want to salute and I'm not just talking the 20+ major characters you'll end up loving or respect in some ways, I'm talking the entire 200+ casts. And what do you know, there's earth shattering obscure BL love at the heart of it, several pairings in fact. The whole show is almost driven by love that makes us want to cry over and over again. I don't know how to explain something of this magnitude, and those who have watched agreed you just can't. You'll have to take that leap of faith and watch it, even if it takes you a year to finish. Be warned though that this is extremely heavy, and don't sue me if your brain explodes trying to keep up with men too smart for you to understand. And don't even try the manga or novel, because they suck compared to anime.
