My second entry to the fanbook, a sequel to the first entry "February 1st" (how can I resist?), a Valentine-related fic, and the first NC-17 since what seemed like years of smex-writing celibacy. Well, here it is ( Read more... )

Burj al Arab? Beyond any expectations. I'm usually the one that keep on daydreaming about something and promptly get a delusion, but this time, even if I've daydreamed a whole year about it, i was stunned. The tea is more or less 380 dirham, I think in dollar is 100. It's definitely worth it, and you will have plenty of time.
I don't know why people think of it as fab, you need that refined eye of yours to appreciate it, and that's uncommon. I'ts not disneyesque at all, and every detail is first-class.
And yes, you need to book in advance and give them your reservation code written on the confirmation e-mail, 'cause the security guys are pretty dutiful. XD

With the taxi driver it happened a curious episode. I've fantasized about sitting in the taxi and say: "Burj al Arab". When I finally did this, the taxi driver turned toward me and repeated: "Burj al Arab?". Hell, yes.
Approaching the private bridge, he muttered something. I'm not yet an interpreter but I usually can understand english: "I'm sorry?" He re-muttered something. Again, I didn't understood. At the third attempt, I give up: "I don't understand". So he spelled: "You... inside... document... ok?" XDD
In the end, everything went smoothly.

Next time I will go for sure to the Medinat Jumeira souk, that this time I've missed: I've only looked at it from a cafè's balcony in the Dubai Mall and it looked very interesting... thanks you for reminding me of it! ^_^

$100?? O_O like for 1 cup of tea? Literally?? *dies* It happened to me too, you know? Every person who hears me say the word "Burj al Arab" will immediately warn me "You can't get in there without a reservation. And the lady has to wear a dress." In fact I couldn't even get close enough to see it because the surrounding area belongs to hotels that you can't get in either without a reservation. I never felt so insignificant in my life really *sobs*

Well, in fact you also receive a flute of champagne, a hot starter and a lot of appetizers and sweets. ^^
About the dress, well... the dress code is elegant, but I've seen a couple of russian and a couple of british in plain summer clothes.
However I was wearing a silk knee-length qipao with a light green bodice and dark green long sleeves, black leggings and black shoes with high heels.
Next time go for it, it's really worth it, and making a reservation is really easy, they're very very polite! ^^
