Sooooo since I'm back from my beloved Nippon, it's time to post some tourist-y photos! Since I was there for 20 days, I took tons of pictures = I have to make separate posts to keep the picture count/post sensible. And I REALLLY tried to be super selective with the pictures too. orz...But you'll see that I just had to include some perhaps-not-so-important pictures as well x'D
My apologies in advance for lame framings/low picture quality, we were on the go almost all the time so I just took pics and went with it.
So, here you go:
On the way to Narita shrine
A turtle shaped rock with a turtle on it, heh.
Tiny me! The shrine is quite huge as you can see...
The whole area around Narita shrine was quite pretty, it must be super pretty in spring when the flowers are blooming *_*
A cute bear in Mister Donut.
New Years in Tokyo.
Some of the ever ubiquitous vending machines. Hot cocoa early in the morning/late in the evening was a real saver <3
Heh, one vending machine had a video about....cute robots and stuff
A Japanese graveyard. Quite something different huh?
This is the kind of view you kind of expect to see in Japan, isn't that so?
Some cute mochi for the New Year. These didn't taste terribly good though; there's red bean paste inside and I can't say it's terribly delicious x'D But sweet, dessert mochis are a different thing, they taste really good! Not sure what they are called, but they also often have a whole strawberry inside them!
Next, a view from a bus in Nikko. Because I've lived my whole life in a pancake land, seeing tall mountains is such a bliss *__*
I wasn't quite prepared to see snow in Japan, hahah.
Kegon Falls. Pretty!
lmao this house was teh shit. Look at all those Xmas decorations!
Meet Mr. Flower Nipple
The three wise monkeys. Yeah, if you didn't know it before, the "Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" thing is from here :D
Sadly I couldn't take any shots of people dressed in kimonos, so have a priest instead.
A pagoda f yeah
Hahah, I just had to include this pic only just because of the kid in green jacket on the BG...when he saw the chocolate banana stand he was all "chokko bananaaaaa!" and looked just....really excited xD
We ate in this really cool restaurant where ALL the walls and even the ceiling were covered with greetings from customers all over the world. There even was a Finnish flag and a Moomin candy box somewhere :D
I laughed a bit too much at this...
Anyway, I felt really glad that I know some japanese, even if it's just a bit past the basics...being able to read japanese, even a little bit, helped so much! Plus it was fun to be able to order from a menu that had no texts in english and also no pictures :D Of course some courses might be written with difficult kanji but usually knowing just katakana will get you quite far.
