I'm shocked that you had a Belkin WiFi hub to begin with. The Airport Express is so simple to configure and deploy, I'm surprised that more cable/DSL providers aren't switching to them. If you don't need a dial up connection, the Airport Express is about as cheap and simple as it gets. And you get the ability to port your iTunes music off them to a speaker system as well.

It's a pity that the border towns have become a gateway for the worst of US/Mexico consumer behavior. One would think that Walmart would just build a store across the border and have done with it.

In the case of San Diego, the little town on the border, San Ysidro, has become the destination for the affluent border population. They built a fine outlet center within walking distance from the crossing at Tijuana. And Walmat has a big presence there as well. Keeps the problem from spreading further north.

Arizona has a similar issue, but there are fewer large cities along the border to suffer the swarms of the wealthy and arrogant border crossers. It's more a blue collar crowd, more humble and aware of the ugly perceptions of the locals.

Oh, and I've seen the XBox 360 in several stores on display. It looks really nice piped off to an HDTV. So far, the largest set I've seen it running on was a 20" LCD screen. Very high def. Pity is, I haven't seen any game title that would get me to switch.

And one more thing about the 360 and shopping, I was at Sam's Club doing some shopping two days before Thanksgiving. Some greedy old man rolled up to a register with 5 of the consoles. He was bragging to someone who asked him about his plans for them. He was going to try and sell 3 of them on his eBay account! Fucker. I wonder how many XBoxes were resold that way?

I bought the belkin because it was on sale for 20 dollars, just wanted to go wireless on the cheap. I thought two belkins should bridge together just fine, but nope that was not the case. I'd love to have a wireless express, or base station, but they just cost to much. It's a sad thing that my access point costs more than my router. Later on I'll buy a base station to conpensate for it all.

The problem is that there are already Wal-Marts in Mexico and Monterrey, but with imports to Mexico being taxed anywhere between 13% to 20%, people want to save that cost. Plus these people like the latest and greatest, and sometimes that is not accesible in Mexico. Like the Xbox for instance, they come and they buy them here, because they aren't being sold over their yet. According to Microsoft that is illegal, honestly their legal issues are none of my concern. But these guys do come over here and buy out massive inventories of these things and resell it over there for a much greater profit because it is not available over there.

The issue is always either cost, or availability.

The same thing happened with iPod nano's the day they arrived at CompUSA, the entire stock of 50 went in under 20 minutes. All to Mexican nationals who came across the border to buy one, this one kids dad was overing to pay twice the retail for the demo.

It's all about status for them, they want to be posh, and that mindset really really bothers me.
