There's a good commentary on the economic policies of the current Chinese leadership, written by former Mexican president Ernesto Zedillo, in the current issue of Forbes. You can see it here though it requires (free) registration, or here courtesy of Yahoo! News.

We played our second show at Chaoyang Park for the Pop Music Festival last night and I was pleased that bokane (Brendan) and immortaleve (Elyse) were in attendance, as well as the charming Kun. Elyse even admitted that we were "better than she had expected we would be," having a prejudice -- for which I can't blame her -- against Metal bands. In fact, I played pretty sloppily and made two or three biggish mistakes, mostly because the evening was unexpectedly cold and my fingers were stiff. That's what I get for not warming up. Or ever practicing.

The bunch of them came over for some pasta and drinks afterward and much merriment and mirth ensued. Anyone coming back to Beijing from abroad in the next few weeks? A bottle of Macallan Elegancia (1991) and a Balvenie 12 year from Duty Free would be nice to replenish my now-depleted single malt Scotch supply. You will be happily reimbursed!
