music meme from nimnod

I've discovered some great music from people on my flist, and I'd love to both share some of mine and discover more. Upload (to anywhere - there are lots of places to use for this, like e.g. SendSpace) a song you love, particularly if it's something you've discovered recently, and link to it from a post in your own journal. If you want to, explain why you chose what you did. Then save all the songs posted on your f-list and make yourself an LJ Friends playlist/CD/whatever.

Go go go!

Single Ladies by Beyonce - Okay, I know y'all already heard this a billion times but I'm addicted to it at the moment. (Yes, I do dance to it. No, not the dance. I'm not that talented.)

Smells Like Queer Spirit by Pansy Division - I've been into Pansy Division for a long time but somehow I didn't have this song until recently. It's a little dated but really, how can you not love a song that goes, "Here we are now, so fellate us!"

In the same vein... There's a Porn Star Shining Down On Me by Jinx Titanic - GAY GOSPEL. SORT OF. Imagine if Lyle Lovett wrote a song about buttsex, okay? This song cheers me up like nothing else. WARNING: RAMPANT BLASPHEMY.

Blonde on Blonde by Nada Surf. I first heard this in the movie Sommersturm (which ALSDKFJKLJ I FREAKING LOVE. Especially b/c I watched it the same week I read Easy There by syllic.) It's a lovely song and also pleases me b/c it's the only Bob Dylan album I have (philistine, I know.)

And speaking of Dylan... Changing of the Guards by Patti Smith - I was obsessed with this song ALL SUMMER. I like it much better than the original. Smith's version gives me chills and makes me want to write Watchmen fic based on it. And I would kill for a good cover of Jokerman.

Mecanica Celestes by Alma Rosa - A long time ago, I was given a mixtape with this song on it and I absolutely loved it. It's EPICALLY FUN. I finally got around to buying it from Itunes and the whole CD is great.

Okay, one more: Joy Comes Back by Rani Arbo & the Daisy Mayhem - I saw these guys in town last June and they were really sweet and fun. Sort of folky, sort of gospel. I recommend them if you like Girlyman.
