The silence sprawls between them like would-be-heat - a comfort blanket wrapping them closer and closer in this dreadful game they don’t know they are playing. The bleating nothingness is interrupted only by the constant patter of rain falling, falling, falling down against the mirrored surface, sending rings of disturbance back up towards them.
They aren’t really fishing, one is looking out over the horizon, out towards Phoenix, towards broken promises and a child screaming, the other looks into the face of his friend, following the too-many wrinkles and trying to force him to look at him without words.
He doesn’t, he’s lost in his losses.

But it’s been raining since she left him - he doesn’t take this as a sign, he’s had his heart stomped on too many times to take this as a sign, and besides, it’s always fucking raining in Forks, yet somehow now, with just the two of them sitting here in their tin saviour, the sky opens up for them - just them.

i never even thought of billy/charlie as being angsty before. it seemed like the fluffy couple, idk. but it's beautiful in its sadness.
also, the last line absolutely kills me.

But I have so many plotbunnies for this pairing, I just can't find the time or the inspiration to write them - plus my trouble with my OTP's is that I never feel like I am doing them justice.
