A Minor Annoyance

Apr 11, 2012 10:32

So for the past three weeks we've had this big staff meeting with the higher ups looming over our heads. The meeting is about this cookie cutter handbook that the organization is making everyone follow (the school's only one part of this whole complex). The school has its own handbook that's much stricter and more tailored to our personal needs but we still were "strongly recommended" to attend the meeting. As in, "if we could make it obligatory we would but we can't so we'll do the next best thing".

I go this morning and five minutes before the meeting is supposed to start, it gets canceled. Seems a concrete truck broke a power line and we had no power in the meeting building. All in all, frustrating but a little bit funny.

And a big big bonus: Marcie, one of the teachers that I've known for years, showed up! She was diagnosed with breast cancer last fall and had to go on hiatus for her chemo treatments. It was so great to see her up and so lively, especially when she just had her last round of chemo only two weeks ago!
