I've been in a really good mood for the past week. Good things have been happening to me, I found a great new author to read, and my writing has taken on a smoother rhythm. I like this.
It's been really up in the air as to whether or not I'll be returning to work next year but last week we got things hammered out and not only am I going to be staying for another year with my teaching partner but we're also going to be doing the new 3-day program AND I'm going to be the one responsible for heading up the new science lab special the whole school is going to be doing every Wednesday! Yeah, teaching science to 4 year olds so isn't on par with going back to get my doctorate but I'm really excited for this! S and I have been introducing science labs to our kids in the past month and they LOVE it. Like on Thursday I was teaching my kids about density and they totally grasped the concept! It's really satisfying and I'm really excited to be given the opportunity to teach more kids things I know they wouldn't get to do otherwise.
Sarah Addison Allen is an author that just popped up on my radar thanks to a friend. I LOVE her books, especially The Sugar Queen. She's totally one of those authors that, when I finish reading a book, I shake my fist and think "damn I wish I'd written that!" then I pick up the next book and happily dive in. XD
My ability to write the Blazes seems to have returned for which I'm very very grateful. I've always agreed with people that say 'I have to write, it's a part of me." It totally is but recently I've realized that it's more than just a need, it's something I like to do. I feel good about myself when I write. It makes me happy. Happiness rocks.
