Title: Visiting Hours
Characters: Noah Puckerman, Quinn Fabray
Rating: PG13
Summary: The list of visitors Puck expected to have in Juvie was fairly small; she certainly wasn't on it.

Based on Ms. waltzmatildah's prompt "Puck/Quinn | all I ever...".

She’s his first, and it turns out only other, visitor in Juvie besides his Mom. Even his kid sister’s not allowed to visit, which blows because he genuinely likes the kid, really, especially in small doses, and it’s total bull shit that she’ll start doing drugs or whatever else his Mom said just because she visited him here. It’s Juvie, not a crack house, you know? But she shows up during visitor hours and he really has the urge to punch Charlie Jameson when the dick whistles at her, because she’s his baby momma, you know, and he’s got to stand up for her, but he doesn’t because he’s honestly pretty fucking surprised to see her at all.

Like sure, he thought Artie might visit because the dude is like that, even though that would destroy his rep. And they've never really talked or anything, but he’s totally laid of screwing with the guy since Glee so that makes them friends almost and it wouldn’t be bad talking to the dude if he did show up. And he figured Mike would visit because they’re bros and despite all the shit last year, Chang always let him come over and play video games and whatever. Just dude stuff without all the emotional crap he got from Quinn at home. But Chang would probably bring Tina, which would be okay because he’s stopped being a complete dick to her too, and he really doesn’t have anything against her especially since she ditched the annoying stutter, but again, would be potentially shitty for his rep.

His baby momma, though, not so expected. But company was company and at that point he was tired of hearing his mother cry about what a failure he was, so having it yelled at him would be a nice change. Besides, there’s definitely something bad ass about having his baby momma visit him in Juvie. She sat down across from him, hands grasping a metal tin that gently clangs as it gets pushed towards him.

“These are for you. I know you like white chocolate.”

Okay. Those were not the words he expected to come out of Quinn Fabray’s mouth while visiting him in Juvie. Some of the other guys got visitors, mostly their Mom’s, and they got brought cookies and shit sometimes, but never him. His Mom cried and most of the other mother’s did too and so there was a decent amount of noise in the visitor’s room as he opened the tin and pulled out a cookie.

“Are they poisoned?”
“I wouldn’t tell you if they were.”
“That’s my girl.”
“I’m not your girl, Puck.”

He has half a cookie stuffed in his mouth because goddamn, Quinn makes the best white chocolate chip cookies even though he’ll totally deny he likes them at all because white chocolate is for pussies. But Quinn made them, and ate them, like crazy right before Beth was born. Right before they gave her away and before their relationship reached a new level of screwed up.

“So why’re you here then? Not that I don’t appreciate the cookies.”
“What are you doing, Puck?”
“Eating,” he grins through the rest of the cookie, “What the hell does it look like?”
“What are you doing here, Puck? In Juvie. You’ve done some stupid things before but nothing to land you here.”
“Had a bad night. Had a bit too much JD. It happens, Q.”
“No, it doesn’t just happen,” she sighed, “You are not a Lima loser, Noah Puckerman. You wanted to raise Beth with me and a Lima loser does not man up like you did; they end up in Juvie. So tell me what’s going on.”
“Shit happens, Q. I’ll be out soon enough.”
“Would you want your daughter to see you here?” She snapped out.
“Yes, I would love my daughter to visit me here. But I don’t have a daughter. Neither do you.”

She bristled, like visibly tensed, and he figured that’s what a porcupine getting ready to attack looked like. Not that he’d ever seen one in his life.

“She’s not ours, Q. And that’s why I’m here. When I found out you were pregnant, it was like… here’s my chance. Here’s someone who’s going to come into this world and not think I’m a screw up. I could be awesome Uncle Puck. And then Finn found out and I really thought that I could make her proud by raising her. I’m a screw-up to my Mom, and to you, and to everyone else, but with her… all I ever wanted with Beth was to make her proud. To be a good Dad. But I’m not a Dad, and I’m a screw-up, and I’ll always be a screw-up because I don’t have anything to prove anymore because everyone already knows me. So why not end up in Juvie? It’s not like she’ll ever know.”

He took a breath, and he’s almost ready to signal to the guard they’re finished because he couldn’t believe he just said all of that to Quinn of all people. She stands slowly, though, and even though they’d been fairly quiet half the room is watching as she walked around the table. Her arms felt completely unfamiliar as they wrapped around his neck, her stomach, slim and flat again, pressing against his back.

“But I know,” she whispered, “And I know one day when she’s older she’ll know you’re the farthest thing from a screw up because you gave her up so she could be raised with everything we couldn’t give her. And she’ll be proud of you, Puck. Because I am.”
