Are you guys tired of hearing from us mods yet? Haha! We hope not! It hasn't been long since we had our Reveals Post where we revealed who wrote which of the 130 happy ending Kaisoo fics we posted over the course of 5 weeks. Were you surprised by some of the names? Or did you guess most of them correctly? Did you find new authors to follow? Did it affirm your love for your faves?
BUT THAT'S NOT WHY WE'RE HERE!
Today, we have our much awaited PROMPT ADOPTION POST! Curious about what it is? Head on down to find out!
What is Prompt Adoption?
Round 1 of No One Dies This Time was able to gather 647 prompts from all of you beautiful souls. With so much great ideas in one place, our 115 writers chose to write 130 of these prompts into happy ending fics that brought us both pain and laughter along the way.
But what happens to the 517 prompts left?
That's where Prompt Adoption comes in! It would be a waste to let these ideas remain unwritten, no? That's why we are opening the Prompt Archive so you can look through the prompts and see if any sparks inspiration within you.
They may not have been claimed and written for the fest but it doesn't mean they have to be alone forever. If you're a responsible writer who wishes to raise a prompt into a lovely full grown fic, then this is your chance!
Guidelines and Reminders
We will be doing our Prompt Adoption a little differently from other fests so read on to find out how and why.
who can adopt a prompt?
- writers who dropped their prompts but wish to finish their fic
- writers who submitted a fic but wish to write more happy endings!
- writers who found out about the fest too late and want to write something for the community
- writers who saw a prompt from the archive that they want to write no matter what!
- writers looking for ideas for their next fic
- writers who wish to challenge themselves with our harder prompts
- ANYONE as long as you want to write Kaisoo the happy ending they deserve, why not?
yay! i'm qualified to adopt but how do i do that?
Usually, after a fest round, writers wishing to adopt a prompt from the fest's prompt archive does not need to declare their intent to write until after they are done writing the fic. This is possible too and we won't stop you from adopting only when you're done, however, we thought that this might lead to some writers starting on a prompt only for it to get adopted by someone else. To avoid this, we thought we will do things a little differently 😃
If you wish to adopt a prompt, simply send us an email at noonediesthistime@gmail.com with the subject I WILL ADOPT PROMPT [Code]! In the body of the email, include your username in aff/livejournal/ao3 or wherever you plan to post the finished fic. You can tell us anything else in your email. What you plan to do, etc.
It's that easy? YES!
Just remember to write the subject line as it is so our email will catch it and it won't get lost!
i've adopted a prompt, now what?
Well, now you write your prompt!
Adopting is different from claiming during the fest round.
- You don't have a time limit. You can write the prompt in a day, or in a year, it's alright!
- You don't have to stay anonymous. You can talk about your adopted prompt all you want to anyone! Share your ideas and excitement with your friends :D
However, some things will remain the same.
- Us mods are still open for questions. You can still ask us things and we'll still reply to your emails and DMs, though they might take longer than usual since we're quite busy nowadays.
- We will still help you with your fic woes! Need someone to bounce ideas with? We're here to help you. Think of it as a fic consultation of sorts 😄
- Need a beta for the prompt you adopted? We're here to help you in that department too!
But why are we doing this? We want to work and help you with your fics. These 517 prompts are very dear to us and we wish to send them off to a loving writer who will raise them right.
i'm finished writing my adopted prompt! what do i do?
You post it to your account and email/dm us the link and we'll promote the fic for you! We will also inform the prompter (if they're not on anon) that their prompt was written :)
We will keep a thread of fics written from adopted prompts on Twitter and also compile a masterlist of them in a post. We want to provide you and your hard work with as much exposure as possible. We're all in this together!
THE PROMPT ARCHIVE
- Please refer to the Prompt Archive above when looking for a prompt to adopt. We will keep it updated as much as we can.
- Please don't write one of the prompts without informing us and claiming the idea as your own :(
- Please be mindful of the prompt backgrounds: white for free prompts, gray for written prompts, red for dropped prompts (not yet re-adopted), green for adopted prompts (but not yet written).
