“Baby, are you excited to go to school tomorrow?” It is a question that Jongin keeps mulling about to ask his daughter since the day, he and his husband enrolled their daughter in a kindergarten school twenty minutes away from where they live.
Kyungin doesn’t answer at all. She continues on drinking her bottle of milk on the couch while rubbing the nose of her treasured teddy bear out of habit. She does this everytime. It’s when she feeds on her bottle of milk that she drags this cream colored teddy bear with her and whenever she is about to sleep. This habit started since she was one year old, the age where a family friend gave the cream colored bear as a gift to her. And even on her age of five, she’s still drinking her milk in a bottle.
Jongin sighs, lips forming into a pout as he sits at the end of the couch while a cartoon show is playing on the television. “Why don’t you talk to me Kyungin?”
Still no answer from the toddler, Jongin resorts to poking his daughter’s leg as he keeps on asking the same question, “Baby?” almost a whine as he begs for Kyungin’s attention, “Are you excited to go to school tomorrow?”
Kyungin’s eyes are glued on the television, bottle of milk on hand, half-emptied.
Jongin feels like he will combust. Kyungin is just like her other father Kyungsoo who was a snob back in college when Jongin set his eyes on the said man and tried to approach him.
Kyungin’s personality and physical traits are perfectly the same with Kyungsoo. They’re really father and daughter. Kyungsoo gave birth to Kyungin four years ago. Jongin even thought their firstborn will look exactly like him, but that was what he got it wrong.
“Kyungin? Are you excited to go to school? Hm?”
Unaswered. Again.
“Kyungin, why don’t you talk to Daddy Jongin?” Jongin crosses his arms on his chest, lower lip jutting out which a gesture that makes him look cuter.
“What’s the matter?” Kyungsoo appears behind the wall connecting to the kitchen. He’s ready to go to work, wearing a lint-free red button down shirt and grey necktie. He is adjusting his necktie when he walks by the television set to sit on the single person couch.
Kyungsoo is working in a property corporation as the sales head.
“Just asking our daughter if she’s excited to go to school.” Jongin slightly glares on his daughter as he answers his husband. “See? She doesn’t even listen to us.”
“Kyungin?” This time, Kyungsoo speaks sternly. It’s a tone that even gets Jongin’s hair stand up from his nape. His voice is really deep and sounds very manly that Jongin loves to hear.
“Daddy?” Kyungin immediately responses, pulling out the empty milk from her with tears forming on her eyes before a loud cry resounds in their house.
“Oh my god…” Jongin is fast to react as he picks up her daughter on the couch. “Baby, don’t cry.” He tries soothing her by rocking her back and forth around his arms.
Kyungsoo’s sigh is audible. He gets up from the couch to approach his husband and daughter.
Kyungin’s cries turn to a sob. Her lips are wobbling. Her pretty eyes that are the same as Kyungsoo’s are filled up with tears cascading down her chubby pink cheeks. She’s a pretty little girl, but a really cry baby at times, especially when Kyungsoo uses his firm tone of voice.
Jongin continues on rubbing Kyungin’s back gently while whispering calm down and don’t cry honey, Daddy Soo isn’t mad at you along with kisses on the top of her head.
Kyungsoo places his hand over Kyungin’s head, threading his fingers to his daughter’s black locks to stroke her hair gently. He shushes her, “Honey, calm down now. Daddy Kyungsoo is sorry. I am not mad.”
They lock eyes and Kyungin’s cries slowly turn to calm.
Jongin gives Kyungin first to Kyungsoo and retrieves a towel from Kyungin’s room to wipe his daughter’s tear stained face.
Kyungsoo gives his daughter consecutive kisses on the cheek, thumb swiping the tracks of tears. “I’m so sorry Kyungin. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Kyungin hiccups and stares to his father’s eyes, little arms flinging around Kyungsoo’s neck.
Jongin gets back with a towel and a glass of water for Kyungin.
“Here,” Jongin wipes off his daughter’s face and then gives her a glass of water to finish.
Once done, Kyungsoo put Kyungin back on the couch and settles on his knees right in-front of her to meet her eye level. “Honey?”
“Kyungin is s-sorry Daddy Soo.” Kyungin said in reply.
“Aigoo, Daddy Jongin was just asking you a question. You shouldn’t ignore your Daddy.” Kyungsoo admonishes in his most gentle tone of voice he can muster. He can’t afford to make his little girl cry again. “Say sorry to Daddy Jongin.”
“It’s okay honey. It’s my fault too. I kept bothering her while she’s feeding on her milk.” The television is turned off by Jongin before he settles himself right beside Kyungin and putting his arm around his daughter’s small waist.
Kyungin turns up her head to her Daddy Jongin. “Daddy, sorry too.” She throws her arms around her Daddy’s torso. “Kyungin is only little excited to go to school.”
“Ah, is that so?” Jongin rubs Kyungin’s arm and smiles softly at Kyungsoo.
Kyungin answers with a nod. Her eyes drift towards Kyungsoo and has glued on the necktie on his long-sleeved shirt.
“So Kyungin, since you are okay now. Don’t ignore your Daddy Jongin again alright?” Kyungsoo raises his brow so Kyungin will be able to understand what he means.
Kyungin nods again, eyes on her Daddy’s necktie.
“Okay. I have to go now,” Kyungsoo gets up and presses a kiss on Kyungin’s forehead. “Be a good girl.”
Kyungin nods again and watches her Daddy Kyungsoo press a kiss on her Daddy Jongin’s lips.
“I’ll see you two later alright?”
“Take care honey,” Jongin carries Kyungin once again and walks Kyungsoo out of their house.
I’ll call you later at lunch.” Kyungsoo says as he reaches his car. He opens the car door, but before getting in, he kisses his daughter’s cheek this time and a long press of kiss on his husband’s lips.
“See you later.” And he gets inside the driver’s seat and Jongin waves at him as the car moves out of their garage.
“Say bye to Daddy Soo, Kyungin,” Jongin raises Kyungin’s arm for a wave and the little girl complies as the two of them wave at Kyungsoo who soon drives away.
Kyungsoo pulls up a smile as he takes a look of his husband-daughter’s reflection on his side mirror.

“Honey?”
“Hm?”
“I think I’ll stay in Kyungin’s school until her dismissal tomorrow.”
“Why?” Kyungsoo mumbles. He is lying on his stomach on their bed, half-asleep.
“I’m worried.” Jongin says. He is resting his head on one palm as he watches his husband sleep.
“You don’t have to worry. She will be just in school.” Kyungsoo murmurs with his eyes close.
“I don’t have anything to do tomorrow anyway.” Jongin reasons out. He lies down on bed now, putting his arms behind his head while he stares up the ceiling.
“I thought you’re going to have lunch with Taemin?” Kyungsoo cracks an eye open, but closes it again as he breathes evenly.
“I can just cancel that?”
“Just have lunch with him.” Kyungsoo groans.
“But - “
“Let’s go to sleep. You’re worrying too much.” Throwing an arm around Jongin’s torso, Kyungsoo snuggles to Jongin comfortably.
“I’ll cancel it.”
“Hm.” Is Kyungsoo’s reply and Jongin knows that Kyungsoo doesn’t know anymore what he’s saying.
As Jongin turns to his husband, the sleeping face of him is what greets his eyes. “Kyungsoo?” He calls, but the other doesn’t move or respond anymore and Jongin keeps it that way as he gives one final kiss on his husband’s forehead before drifting off to sleep.

“Look at Kyungin, she looks so good on her uniform.” Jongin coos with a wide smile on his face. He’s just wearing a shirt and faded jeans. He really did cancel his meet-up with his bestfriend Taemin to be able to accompany Kyungin throughout her stay in her school.
Kyungin is wearing a green pleated sleeveless dress with a match of red long sleeved blazer. Her hair is down, but there is a red ribbon tied on her hair to complete her outfit. She looks pretty on it.
“Wow, my princess looks pretty.” Kyungsoo comments right after he comes out from the bedroom, dressed in a white button down, a grey long sleeved blazer and a black necktie.
Kyungin wobbles towards Kyungsoo who welcomes her with open arms, but Kyungin’s target isn’t to hug her precious Daddy, but with something else more eye-catching for her.
“Kyungin - “
Kyungin unexpectedly wraps her fingers around Kyungsoo’s tie and tugs on it, giggling.
“Kyungin what are you - -“
“Daddy, what is this?” Kyungin’s giggling sounds so cute. Her two fathers exchange glances with each other and Jongin only give him a shrug.
“It’s called necktie.” Kyungsoo picks up his daughter around his arms and Kyungin still holds onto Kyungsoo’s necktie, not letting it go.
Since they are all ready to leave, Jongin and Kyungsoo walk towards the garage to get inside the car. However, just before Kyungsoo can get inside the driver’s seat, Kyungin’s fingers are still wrapped around Kyungsoo’s black necktie.
“Kyungin? Let go of Daddy’s necktie. We have to go or you’ll be late.” Jongin removes his daughter’s fingers around the necktie, but Kyungin is holding onto it tightly so it leaves Jongin with a deep sigh.
“Kyungin?” This time, it’s Kyungsoo’s turn to tell Kyungin to let go of his tie. His lips pull upwards and he is conscious of the tone of voice he has to use, because he doesn’t want Kyungin to cry again like the other day. “Let go of the tie please?”
Kyungin doesn’t listen. She looks like she’s now in her own world as she plays with his father’s tie.
Jongin and Kyungsoo are now both scratching the back of their heads.
“How did this happen?” Jongin asks in frustration. If they don’t leave yet, Kyungin will be late on her first day in kindergarten, but again, Kyungin is being hard to her Daddies.
“I dunno, she just, she just grabbed my tie and then this happened.”
With a sigh, Kyungsoo turns to his daughter again, “Honey? Kyungin? If you don’t let go of my tie I will be mad.”
The threat has even no use.
“Honey, we really need to go,” Jongin reminds, but he can see how Kyungsoo is having a difficult time coaxing their daughter to let go of the tie.
“Jongin, Kyungin won’t let go. I’ll be late now too.”
Glancing on his watch again, Jongin takes a deep breath and tries to pull Kyungin this time away from Kyungsoo. But she holds back and whines. “N-No - “
“Kyungin we have to go - -“
Kyungin’s face starts to contort. She’s on the verge of crying and Kyungsoo can already sense the onslaught of tears coming so he kicks Jongin’s shin lightly to stop him from pulling their daughter away from him.
“Hon, Kyungin’s gonna be late and you too. We need to go - “ And Jongin just made a huge mistake when he pulls Kyungin away entirely from Kyungsoo, holding her under her armpits.
God, she’s heavy.
Kyungin sheds tears. She’s wailing.
The married couple panics and Jongin rocks Kyungin once again around his arms to soothe her, but Kyungin will not stop crying. She even reaches out to Kyungsoo and it’s a huge mistake for Kyungsoo too to bring back Kyungin to him as Kyungin once again takes a grip of his tie, but getting her wails tone down to a calm.
Jongin sighs. “What is with Kyungin today?”
Kyungsoo is incredulous. “It’s the tie.”
“Yeah definitely it’s the tie.”
“Baby? You really want Daddy Soo’s tie?”
Kyungin stares at Kyungsoo innocently, eyes wide. “Kyungin wants tie.”
Kyungsoo gives Jongin a look of I told you so , but Jongin slaps his face with both of his hands.
“Aigoo, what should we do honey?”
Kyungsoo can only laugh at his husband’s misery. “Hon, it’s just simple,”
“Kyungin wants a tie.”
“Exactly. That’s what she wants.”
“Kyungin?” Kyungsoo calls sweetly, “If you let go of Daddy’s tie, we will lend you another tie later after you get home okay?”
Kyungin giggles. She doesn’t seem like she understands what her father tries to say.
Jongin adds, “Kyungin? If you let go of Daddy Kyungsoo’s tie, I will buy you your faaaaaavorite ice-cream! Sounds good?” He grinned.
But ignored.
“Baby? If you let go of Dad Soo’s tie, we’ll go to the arcade tomorrow. You want that right?” Kyungsoo wheedles, but Kyungin doesn’t give him anything like a nod or a smile.
“Bribing her will not work. Kyungsoo, we need to go now.”
“But how are we supposed to get her to let go of my tie?”
“Why?”
Kyungsoo reasons tersely, “Jongin, you don’t know how to fuck - “
“Kyungsoo, forbidden word! Kyungin is here!”
Kyungsoo clicks his tongue. “Fine. So how? You can’t drive. I’m the one driving. I told you a long time ago to enroll for driving lessons but you won’t listen to me - “
“Fine. I get it. I get it. I don’t want to fight with you okay?” Jongin sighs, rubbing his temple with his thumb and tries to plead on Kyungin again. “Kyungin? Listen to Daddies.”
“Kyungin,” Kyungsoo says firmly. “Baby, you need to let go now. Daddies promise we’ll let you play a necktie later when you behave.”
Kyungin removes her grip from the tie and stares at her Daddy Kyungsoo. Out of fear, but thankfully she doesn’t cry, she wraps her arms around Kyungsoo’s neck. “Promise Daddy?”
The couple sighs in relief in chorus which made them laugh afterwards.
With a smile, Kyungsoo says, “Promise.”
And when Kyungin is settled on her seat, seatbelt fastened around her torso, Kyungsoo and Jongin can finally sigh in relief for the second time outside the car.
“Honey, I got another solution if this happens again tomorrow.”
“What?” Kyungsoo asks.
“Buy her own necktie instead.” Jongin proudly suggested, feeling like a genius, but Kyungsoo only gives him a flick on the forehead.
“One of my ties is enough. Come on.”
“Right. Coz you’re cheap like that. Tsk.” Jongin followed inside the car, strapping his seatbelt on him and checking on her daughter who stays behaved. “Kyungin, why so quiet?”
“Because Daddy will give me his tie if I’m behave.” Kyungin mumbles and stays prim and proper behind.
“Right.” Kyungsoo grins, looking at the front mirror before driving off.
“Mornings with you two are always hella crazy.”
And Kyungsoo will not deny it at all. Mornings with his family might be hella crazy, but it’s worth every second, minute and hour just being with them.
This is the morning frenzy on the Kims.
