Nightmares…

Kyungsoo jolted in his bed, heart racing...that day at the hospital still haunted him.

Everyone said that it wasn’t his fault but he was the surgeon and he knew that if he had been more alert then he wouldn’t end up losing the patient. He was a good surgeon, everyone acknowledge his skills but that doesn’t take the pain of losing a patient. It was the first time someone died on him and no matter what he do, he couldn’t get over it… the sound of the flat line still haunted him.

Junmyeon, the director of the hospital he was working at and also a close friend of his, suggested that he take a year of sabbatical leave to find himself again and get over what happened. He took the offer after much thought and flew to the U.S. to visit his family. He stayed there for over a month then went back to Korea and decided to stay at their vacation house.

Kyungsoo specifically loves the forest at the back of their family house. Taking walks in the woods calmed his mind and he needed that peaceful environment to take his mind off his busy life back at Seoul.

Kyungsoo was taking his usual route in the forest when he heard a loud noise among the trees and saw something crashed not far from where he was resting. He immediately rushed towards it and there he saw someone hanging by his broken parachute.

Kyungsoo tried calling out for the man but the other seemed to be unconscious if not dead. Kyungsoo reached out for the man’s wrist and checked for the other’s pulse, a sense of relief washed over Kyungsoo when he felt the familiar beating vein against his skin. He quickly inspected the man’s injury before he looked for the best way to get the man out of the straps of his parachute without further injuring him.

It took a while before Kyungsoo was able to get the injured man down but he knew that he didn’t have much time to waste because the night was fast approaching and things would be twice as hard in the dark.

By the time he reached his house, he was covered in his own sweat. He doesn’t even know how he managed to bring the injured man to his house by himself. He didn’t have time to rest because the man needed immediate medical attention and it was his duty as a doctor to do just that.

Fortunately, the man didn’t need any major surgery and he had enough equipments and medical supplies to tend to the man’s injuries. Kyungsoo was exhausted and hungry by the time he was done with the man’s wounds. He quickly whipped up his dinner and took a bath before going back to check up on the unknown man hoping to finally see him awake.

But morning came and the man still lies sleeping in his guest room. He was starting to think that the man was suffering more than he thought… he was about to call an ambulance when the man started showing signs of waking up.

Kyungsoo didn’t realize that he was holding his breath while anxiously waiting for the man to open up his eyes. He exhaled loudly when the man fluttered his eyes and it instantly took the man’s attention. As expected the man was disoriented but Kyungsoo gave him enough time to take in his surroundings and patiently waited for the man to talk.

“W-what happened?” the man said his first words albeit confused.

“Hi…” Kyungsoo smiled at the stranger. “I found you in the woods yesterday and brought you here in my house to tend to your wounds. Don’t worry I’m a licensed doctor, you are in safe hands…”

“T-Thank you…” the injured man seemed to be in deep thought after that as he furrowed his eyes in concentration.“…but I can’t remember what happened to me…”

“Relax, it’s normal to be disoriented…especially with your head injury. Give it a few more hours for it to come back to you. For now you could tell me if there’s anywhere particular in your body that is hurting more so I can check on it.”

The man assessed his body and told Kyungsoo what he was feeling. Kyungsoo checked on him further according to the man’s own assessment of his injuries. It was a good thing that Kyungsoo had been thinking of putting up his own personal clinic in his house, all the things he needed where there and it was now easier tending to the man’s injury since the other was finally awake.

The next day, Kyungsoo found out that the man’s name was Jongin…sadly though that was the only thing he remembered. Jongin sprained his ankle so in the following days, Kyungsoo was very attentive to his needs. The doctor didn’t seem to mind giving the attention that his patient needed, he actually felt good helping Jongin in any way he could and Kyungsoo promised to himself that he will be with Jongin until he fully recovers.

Jongin, on the other hand, was starting to feel like a burden to the doctor especially when a week had passed and still no other memory came back to him. So as much as possible he tried not to cause much trouble and to help Kyungsoo in any way he can.

More days passed but no memories ever came back to Jongin, surprisingly though he’s no longer affected by it. Maybe it has something to do with a certain doctor that he had grown attached to over the month that he had been ‘living’ there. Yes, it was definitely because of a certain doctor named Do Kyungsoo .

As silly as it may sounds, after the second week that he wasn’t able to recall anything from his past, Jongin suddenly felt that it was fine…that maybe his memories will come back at the right time… maybe now is not the right time… maybe he’s enjoying Kyungsoo’s company too much to even care about who he really was. On the 30th day that he was staying with Kyungsoo and still no memories but his name, Jongin thought that for now… all he needed was Kyungsoo.

Formalities were dropped on the 5th day.

“Dr. Do?”

“Jongin, how many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me doctor, we’re not in a hospital. Just call me by my name… I don’t mind.”

“Okay Soo…” Jongin beamed, instantly forgetting what was it that he was about to ask the doctor. Maybe it was because of the surprised but satisfied smile plastered on the doctor’s face after he called him by his nickname.

On the 12th night after the accident, Jongin was woken up by the soft keys of a piano. Jongin found it weird to suddenly be up in the middle of the night, instincts told him that he was a heavy sleeper, the sound wasn’t even loud as to disturb someone sleeping but there was something with the music playing that urged him to open his eyes and listen more. Jongin grabbed his crutches and followed the sound. The moment Jongin reached the room, he didn’t regret getting up… there, by the piano was Kyungsoo…eyes closed and fingers elegantly dancing on the keys. Jongin didn’t mean to stare; it really wasn’t his fault that he just couldn’t help it. No one knows how long Jongin was staring but when Kyungsoo opened his eyes and their eyes met, he gasped unintentionally that made Jongin get out of his trance.

“I’m s-sorry… did I wake you up?” The doctor guiltily asked the obvious.

“It was worth it…” Jongin answered absentmindedly, still not fully recovering from his trance.

“Huh?” Kyungsoo looked up at him confused.

“I mean, it’s okay… I was uhm…” Jongin rubbed the back of his neck nervously, trying to find some excuse.“…thirsty anyways. I-I’ll just go… you played well by the way…” Jongin wanted to run out of the room immediately to stop further embarrassing himself but of course his injured body just won’t let him.

“Well then let me help you…”

Before Jongin could stop him, Kyungsoo was already by his side and was gently leading him to the kitchen. Kyungsoo quickly poured him a glass. Jongin didn’t realize just how thirsty he really was…

Eight days later, Jongin suddenly came down with a fever. Kyungsoo cooked breakfast as usual and was waiting for Jongin but an hour had passed but still no movement from Jongin’s room. Thinking that Jongin might had overslept, he just let it be but when he was done cooking lunch and still no Jongin, Kyungsoo finally decided to check up on the other.

Kyungsoo gasped when he saw Jongin shivering under the covers. He quickly checked his temperature and grabbed a wet towel to help Jongin’s body to cool down. He prepared a soup for Jongin and helped him eat it so Jongin could finally take some medicines. Kyungsoo didn’t left Jongin’s side; he was worried that the fever maybe an implication of something that he didn’t noticed from the accident.

“You gave me quiet a scare Jongin.” Kyungsoo honestly confessed when Jongin’s fever finally went down. Jongin quickly apologized but still he can’t help the weak smile creeping on his lips, seeing Kyungsoo so worried about him does something funny to his heart.

From the day Jongin opened his eyes after the accident, Kyungsoo was constantly taking care of him. Jongin wanted to do something in return for Kyungsoo. His ankle was finally healed and now without the crutches, he could move a lot better so Jongin decided to start his day early and prepare breakfast for his doctor. And that was how Kyungsoo walked in on him that morning with flour all over his face.

“Jongin? What are you doing?”

“I was just…uhm…well…” Jongin looked down at the batter that he was mixing. “I was trying to make some pancakes but uhm…” Jongin winced at the mess on the counter, he wanted to prepare breakfast for Kyungsoo but he never said that he knew how. And now the surprise was blown, the kitchen was a mess and he might have angered Kyungsoo instead of making him happy.

“If you wanted pancakes, you could have said so. I would have made it for you minus the mess…” Kyungsoo’s eye twitched with the sight of his dirty kitchen.

“But the point of making the pancakes was to surprise you…” Jongin admitted with a pout on his lips. “I’m sorry Soo, I’ll go clean this up now…” Jongin grabbed the bowl and was about to dump the contents when Kyungsoo stopped him.

”You know what I hate more than a dirty kitchen? It’s wasting food. C’mon pass me the milk; we can still fix this…” Kyungsoo started mixing the batter again and was waiting for Jongin to give him the milk but the latter was still standing beside him looking confused.

“What? I’m teaching you how to make pancakes, so you could do it next time you want to surprise me…” Kyungsoo was fighting not to break into a smile but failed as his lips formed that heart smile. Jongin couldn’t help but smile too, he can tell by the way Kyungsoo smiled that he was forgiven… that same smile that may or may not had made his heart skip a beat.

On the 57th day, Jongin heard Kyungsoo sing for the first time and just like that night when the other was playing the piano, Jongin couldn’t take his eyes off of Kyungsoo. Jongin swear he could listen to Kyungsoo singing all day long and the compliment made Kyungsoo blushed into ten shades of red. Once again, Jongin was mesmerized to the beauty that is Kyungsoo.

On the 73rd night came a storm and that was when Kyungsoo found out that Jongin was scared of thunder. The wind was howling and the night sky was illuminated by some lightning. Kyungsoo was about to fall asleep when Jongin knocked on his door.

“Can I… can I sleep here?” Jongin shyly asked when Kyungsoo opened his door.

“Huh?”

“I’ll sleep on the floor and I promise I’ll be quiet just please let me stay here for the night. I just don’t want to be alone…” The last statement almost came out as a whisper.

“Why? Is there something wrong Jongin?” Kyungsoo asked but then thunder roared and made Jongin jumped. Kyungsoo finally understood Jongin’s dilemma and without much thought, he pulled Jongin closer and pat his back like a child.

“It’s okay… you don’t have to be scared. I’m here…” That night Kyungsoo sang Jongin to sleep and made him feel safe.

On the 86th day, Jongin and Kyungsoo decided to have a movie marathon. Kyungsoo made popcorns and two of them were huddled in the couch, sharing a single blanket as they watched movie after movie. By the time night rolled in, they were on their last movie. They were watching “If Only” and were at the part after the fight at the restaurant, the guy, although hesitant went inside the cab with his girlfriend. The guy knew what was about to happen but still he went in. The next scene was the girl breaking down at the hospital. Jongin quickly turned to his left when he heard a sob and sure enough Kyungsoo was crying. Jongin didn’t hesitate to brush his fingers against Kyungsoo’s cheeks and wipe the other’s tears away. Kyungsoo looked up at him, embarrassed by his crying state but Jongin just smiled and pulled him into a hug.

“It’s okay to cry from a sad movie as long as you let me wipe those tears for you…” Jongin whispered into Kyungsoo’s ears before placing a kiss on the latter’s forehead.

Jongin knew he had fallen and it looked like Kyungsoo did too but they were both still afraid to admit it. They were tip toeing around each other, too afraid to voice it out but too weak to fight off those lingering touches. It was their only way of saying what their hearts really wanted to say.

Things finally changed when they finally were able to say those three words. It’s the 99th night, Jongin and Kyungsoo were watching some variety show. Jongin had his head on Kyungsoo’s lap while the doctor was busy running his fingers on Jongin’s hair.

It came all too sudden; Kyungsoo was too occupied with admiring Jongin’s face when he absentmindedly let out those words. If not for Jongin’s sudden reaction, Kyungsoo wouldn’t realize that he had said it out loud.

“I love you…”

Jongin turned his head to Kyungsoo’s direction so fast, he might have break his neck but he heard it… loud and clear. Kyungsoo’s eyes widen upon realization of what he did and he quickly turned beet red.

Jongin quickly got up and properly faced Kyungsoo. “You mean it?”

Kyungsoo was surprised by the question but he see no point in lying especially with the way his heart was beating so fast, it might jump off his chest.

“Y-Yes…I love you.”

Jongin break out into a smile, like a child on Christmas morning. He pulled Kyungsoo into his arms and gave him a bone-crushing hug. “I love you too, Soo…”

“I love you so much, Soo…” Jongin cupped Kyungsoo’s cheeks and that night they shared their first kiss.

The two were in celebratory mood the next day. Kyungsoo prepared a special lunch and they were about to eat but then someone decided to suddenly show up.

“Kyunggggggieee~~~~” the newcomer sing-song as he let himself in with his own set of keys and roamed the house looking for the said doctor.

The newcomer reached the dining room and Kyungsoo didn’t even look surprised to see the other man and even gave him a smile.

“I see you got bored again and remembered you have a bestfriend you can bother…” Kyungsoo got up from his seat and prepared another set of utensils for the newcomer.

“I see you’ve been busy to even answer your bestfriend call. I’ve been calling all morning Soo, I was afraid you were out and there’s no food by the time I get here. I’m starving Kyungie….” The newcomer was subtly eyeing his bestfriend ‘new’ friend. He was curious on who the new guy was or who he was in Kyungsoo’s life specifically.

“You’re always hungry, hyung…” Kyungsoo sassed out but he didn’t miss those curious and questioning look his bestfriend was throwing at him but he remained quiet about it. He wanted to see what his bestfriend would do to satisfy his own curiosity.

It didn’t take long for his bestfriend to boldly extend his hands towards Jongin. “Hi, I’m Minseok… Kyungsoo’s bestfriend…”

“I’m Jongin… Kyungsoo’s boyfriend.” Jongin introduced himself with a bright smile which grew even wider by Minseok‘s surprised gasp.

“I didn’t know we have a title…” Kyungsoo teased the two who was amusingly looking at each other.

This time Minseok turned to his bestfriend and gave him an offended glare. “Are you disowning me now?! May I remind you that I’m your only friend outside your work!”

“I’m not talking about you and me… I’m talking about me and him…” Kyungsoo clarified.

Now, it’s Jongin turn to look offended. “Are you disowning me now?!” Jongin copied Minseok.

“Of course not…” Kyungsoo quickly retorted. “I’m just surprised that you didn’t even hesitate telling Minseok that you are mine…”

“Well, I’m proud to be yours and your sorry ass can’t do anything but deal with it…” Jongin teased back.

“Eww! I never thought I’d see my bestfriend be this cheesy with his boyfriend… Eww!” Minseok exclaimed. “Anyways…you look familiar. Are you a model or something?”

“I don’t know…” Jongin honestly answered.

“You don’t know?”

“Well currently I don’t remember anything about myself other than my name…”

“I’ll explain everything later, hyung.” Kyungsoo interfered before his bestfriend could raise another question. “Weren’t you hungry, do you want me to add another dish?”

“No, this is okay…” Minseok turned to food on the table, successfully distracting him from the topic they were having earlier.

After the meal, Jongin volunteered to do the dishes to give the two bestfriend some private time to catch up. Minseok quickly grabbed Kyungsoo out of the kitchen before the latter could protest. He dragged his bestfriend to the garden.

“He looks familiar Kyungie. I’ve seen him somewhere…” Minseok took out his phone and started tapping away. “And what’s with all this amnesia thing?”

“He got into an accident and I kinda saved him…”

Before Kyungsoo could explain further, Minseok let out another surprised gasp and held his phone in front of Kyungsoo for the other to see the video playing on his phone.

“Here! That’s him… Kim Jongin! He’s the missing crew pilot that Sehun had been telling me about. His family and fiancé---“ but Minseok was cut by the hand covering his mouth. He found himself being dragged by his bestfriend towards the garage.

Kyungsoo locked the garage door after they entered, then he opened a hidden door and went in.

“Kyungsoo are you listening to me? He has a family and fiancé…” What Minseok was about to say got lost in his throat when he saw Kyungsoo walking back with a parachute bag on his hands. Minseok known Kyungsoo all his life to be sure that there was no way it was owned by his bestfriend.

The defeated look on Kyungsoo’s eyes said it all for Minseok. His bestfriend knew it all along, he was hiding the very evidence for a reason and Minseok wanted to understand why.

“You…you knew…”

“I wouldn’t have let him stay here this long if I didn’t know who he really was…” Kyungsoo confessed.

“But why? Why are you hiding him? Why are you hiding this… this could be the key for him to remember everything…”

“I d-don’t know…” Kyungsoo sighed. “ You knew what happened at the hospital. I needed redemption. When I saw him I knew I had to save him… I need to save him, to save myself from the guilt…”

“But Kyungsoo everyone knows what happened to the patient wasn’t your fault.”

“I was his doctor Min, I’m the one handling his surgery, Of course it was my fault! If I had paid more attention I could had saved him…”

“Your patient was already dying, if anything… you helped him live a little bit more. No one’s blaming you Soo, not even his family…”

“I’m a doctor Hyung, I’m supposed to be saving lives…”

“And you did… you did your best to save him. There’s no need for you to feel guilty about what happened. It was already out of your hands…” Minseok explained. “Okay so you saved Jongin to get rid of your previous guilt but that still doesn’t explain why he’s still here… and why he was claiming to be your boyfriend…”

“It got out of hand Hyung. At first I was just innocently taking care of him but then Jongin made me fall. He made me fall hard and I couldn’t even stop myself. I want him and fortunately he wanted me to.” Kyungsoo raked his hair in frustration. He wanted so badly for Minseok to understand him.

There was silence between them after that. Minseok was fully taking in Kyungsoo’s words . He looked at his bestfriend and he had never seen Kyungsoo this frustrated before. He never saw Kyungsoo wanting someone so bad that he lost track of what was right and what was wrong. At the end of the day, he was Kyungsoo’s bestfriend and it was his job to make Kyungsoo face the truth.

“Kyungsoo, you can’t have him, someone’s already waiting for him…”

“But he doesn’t remember her anymore…” Kyungsoo reasoned out.

“Because you wouldn’t give him a chance to remember her. Soo, he is not yours to keep.”

“I thought you are my bestfriend, you were supposed to be on my side!”

“I am! That is why I don’t want you to keep living in this lie! You need to let him go before it hurts even more.”

“I can’t… I’m sorry I can’t do that!”

The two stared at each other, Minseok in sympathy while Kyungsoo’s eyes were brimming with tears. Just the thought of letting go of Jongin brings him pain and what hurts even more was that everything that his bestfriend just said was right. Minseok was right and Kyungsoo was having a hard time accepting the truth.

Minseok gave him space for the rest of the day; he excused himself and left the two in their own little world. Kyungsoo suddenly became extra clingy, he was trying his best not to show Jongin how much his talk with Minseok was affecting him.

“I thought you love me, how could you do this? How could you lie to me!!! I hate you Kyungsoo! I hate you!!! I wish I never had met you!” Jongin was seething in anger. He pushed past Kyungsoo and walked out of the door, not even sparing a single glance at the doctor who was desperately begging for forgiveness.

Kyungsoo bolted up in his sleep, his heart was racing. Nightmare…another nightmare, but this was the worst of all. Kyungsoo looked to his right and there was Jongin, sleeping peacefully by his side. It was all a nightmare, Jongin was still his but for how long. What if it was more a premonition than a nightmare? Kyungsoo shook his head at the thought, he don’t want to hear those words coming out of Jongin’s mouth. He doesn’t want Jongin to hate him.

Kyungsoo couldn’t go back to sleep after that, he rested his back against the headboard, millions of thoughts going through his head, Minseok’s words specifically ringing inside over and over again.

Kyungsoo reached for Jongin’s face and gently caressed it.

“What do I do Jongin? Should we continue in this lie where you and I exist or should I do the right thing and bring you back to her? Tell me Jongin… what do I do?”

Minseok woke up early the next day for his morning jog. He was about to take a shower when he noticed the yellow note on his bedside table. He lifted the piece of paper and read it, he didn’t know whether to be sad or happy about it, all he knew was that Kyungsoo finally made a choice.

”I’m going out in the woods, I won’t be back until sundown. Take him home…before I change my mind.”

Six months later,

Kyungsoo was back at his busy life in Seoul. He and Minseok just got back from backpacking around the globe, it was Minseok’s idea…something to keep his mind off what happened. He didn’t ask anything about Jongin after Minseok told him that he was able to bring him home safely. He made a choice and he chose to let him go… he was just glad that Minseok didn’t left him to deal with the consequences alone.

Kyungsoo immediately reported to Junmyeon and the director was more than happy to have him back. Since he was gone for almost a year, he was thrown with surgery after surgery…honestly he didn’t mind it… it’s another way of keeping his mind off of Jongin.

Kyungsoo was suddenly called in for an emergency operation. He immediately put on his scrubs and intently listened as the nurse briefed him about the patient’s conditions. The patient was already in the operating room when he arrived and everything was ready for the surgery. Kyungsoo briefly assessed the patient’s body with his eyes before giving his assistant surgeon and nurses a nod to signal that he was about to start with the surgery. With calculative moves, Kyungsoo focused on what he does best… that is saving lives.

Kyungsoo cleaned up after the surgery and got ready to talk to the family to explain the patient’s condition further. He was reviewing the patient’s chart when the doors of the operating rooms opened and he came face to face with a very worried Jongin.

It took a moment for Kyungsoo to recover from the shock, honestly if it weren’t for the two people whom he assumed was the patient’s parents eagerly calling for him, he would still be dumbly standing there. He quickly turned his attention to the patient’s parent and explained the situation. Jongin also stepped closer and listened to him.

Kyungsoo tried to his best to keep himself in check and be professional about it, even though he feels like dying inside because right next to Jongin was his fiancé, holding his hands tightly to comfort him. Kyungsoo quickly excused himself after clarifying everything to the patient’s family. He headed for his office and once he was in the safety of his room, he quickly dialed his bestfriend’s number.

“Who is Kim Jongdae?” Kyungsoo immediately asked when he heard Minseok pick up the call.

“Huh?”

“A patient got wheeled in for surgery and his name was Kim Jongdae---“

“Oh my God! How is he? Is he okay? Kyungsoo please tell me he is okay?!...”

Kyungsoo was surprised with how panicky Minseok sounded. “Relax. He’s fine… a couple of stitches but he’s breathing just fine. Now let me rephrase the question, do you know Kim Jongdae?”

“He is Jongin’s brother…”

“Well yeah I kind of discovered that after having a talk with his family. Again let me ask…do YOU know Kim Jongdae?”

“Well, uhm… he is Jongin’s brother and we might have kept in touch after I brought Jongin back home. We were sort of ‘together’”

“Minseok, we went backpacking… you were with me the entire time. Oh my! Is he the one you’ve been wasting your international calls to?” Kyungsoo’s eyes widen in realization, Minseok was constantly talking to a certain JD the whole six months that they were travelling.

“Well, yeah that’s him…” Minseok shyly admitted.

“Oh okay then I’ll take extra care of my bestfriend’s unofficial boyfriend.” Kyungsoo teased.

“If you were his surgeon then I guess I have nothing to worry about but Kyungie… are you… okay?”

Kyungsoo took a deep breath when he realized what Minseok was implying.

“She’s with him… she was the one holding his hand and comforting him…”

“Who?” Minseok asked confused on who was Kyungsoo’s pertaining to.

“Her… his fiancé…”

“But Soo---“

“I must have looked pathetic when I bolted out of there once they were done with their questions…” Kyungsoo bitterly laughed. “I think he really hates me now…”

Kyungsoo wanted to talk more and confide in his bestfriend but his work phone started ringing and he had no choice but to take it. He promised his bestfriend that he’ll keep him posted with Jongdae’s condition before saying goodbye to him.

Kyungsoo saw Jongin everytime he would go to Jongdae’s room for the routine check-up. Somehow he was thankful that Jongin doesn’t made any move to talk to him but there was also a part in him that felt sad because maybe Jongin doesn’t remember him anymore or maybe Jongin hated him so much he doesn’t want to talk to him.

One night though, Kyungsoo entered the room and Jongin was the only one looking after his brother. Something about the atmosphere between them made Kyungsoo nervous; he tried hard not to show it and went on with his routine. He thought he was finally safe when he was done with his routine and was about to go out when Jongin suddenly called him out.

“Dr. Do…”

Kyungsoo cringed at the formality.“Yes?”

“Can I… can we talk?”

Kyungsoo furrowed his eyebrows in confusion but he sees familiarity in Jongin’s eyes and somehow he got an idea on what Jongin wanted to talk about.

“There’s a café nearby, do you mind taking a break and meet me there?”

Jongin’s voice was too casual for Kyungsoo’s liking. He doesn’t know if he’s ready to be confronted about what happened six months ago but Kyungsoo found himself nodding.

“I’ll be there in ten minutes; I just need to change my clothes…”

Kyungsoo entered the café and as expected Jongin was already there and waiting for him.

“I hope you don’t mind, I already ordered for you. Macchiato with an extra shot of espresso and blueberry muffins, they’re your favorite right?”

Kyungsoo looked down at the table and he was at lost for words because ‘heck Jongin remembered.

“How are you?”

Once again, Kyungsoo was rendered speechless. Honestly he was expecting Jongin to start yelling at him for hiding him from his family but this person in front of him was too calm for someone that he technically ‘kidnapped’.

Kyungsoo heaved out a long sigh; he doesn’t want to deal with the ‘calm before the storm’. He wanted this to be over and done with.

“I hid you from your family for almost three months…”

“A hundred days…” Jongin suddenly interrupted.

“What?”

“I was with you for a hundred days… I counted.”

“Fine, I hid you from your family for a hundred days. Shouldn’t you be lashing out on me now instead of calmly asking me a ‘how are you’.”

“Well, I don’t actually see it that way. You saved my life and now you also save my brother’s life, I don’t see why I need to lash out on you for those hundred days that we spent together.”

“You could have made it to your wedding if I didn’t selfishly hid you…” Kyungsoo was determined to face this head on.

“Maybe it was a good thing. You saved Krys from marrying someone who she doesn’t love and who doesn’t love her either.”

“What?”

“It was an arrange marriage but thanks to you and your selfish ways, she and her boyfriend had enough time to fix things up. Now I’ll be a godfather to my bestfriend’s first child…” Jongin smiled at the thought.

“Besides I don’t think I could marry her, not when I already met you…” Jongin teasingly winked at him and it made Kyungsoo’s heart involuntary cartwheels.

“W-what do you mean?”

“I was planning to go back to the house but… I was not sure if you still wanted to see me. We were doing just fine but then I woke up one day and you were gone. I thought I did something wrong but the next thing I knew was that your bestfriend was taking me home… funny coz I thought that I was already home. Kyungsoo, I never regretted those hundred days with you, simply because it was spent with you.

“I… I don’t understand… what I expect was for you to be angry at me for doing those things but here you are saying these things. I…I don’t understand what you mean”

“How about I make you feel it instead…” Jongin smirked and suddenly pulled Kyungsoo closer.

“I love you…” Jongin whispered before crashing their lips together.

The kiss was short and could still be considered innocent but it still left Kyungsoo breathless.

“You… how…I…”

Jongin was smirking at the doctor, clearly amused by the lack of words. He pulled Kyungsoo closer again and placed a kiss on Kyungsoo’s cheeks making other blush hard.

“Jongdae told me that you were travelling with Minseok…so I figured out that you needed time and space. But after you got back, I started following you around finding the right time to approach you…”

“You mean, you’ve been stalking me since I got back?”

“Ever felt like someone was watching your every move…” Jongin teased.

“That’s freaking creepy, Jongin!” Kyungsoo slapped Jongin’s arm. “But at the hospital… you didn’t say one word to me…”

“In my defense, you were always rushing out after checking up on my brother. We are in a hospital so I thought whatever you’re rushing out for might be important. I don’t want to disturb you on your work…”

Kyungsoo wanted to slap himself so much, it turned out that he was running away for nothing.

“I was looking for the right timing.” Jongin turned serious again. “I don’t want to rush out and say something stupid that might make me lose you again. I was sure with my feelings from the very start Soo, with or without memories; you are the one that I want.”

Jongin cupped Kyungsoo’s face and made Kyungsoo focus on him. “You are the one that I need.”

“Kyungsoo, you are the one that I love…”

“Those hundred days with you were the one of the best memories I could have. Please tell me that you don’t regret it…”

“Never…” Kyungsoo smiled. “I would never regret being with you, Jongin…”

“Good, so does this means that I’m yours again?”

“You’ve always been secretly mine, I’m selfish remember?!” Kyungsoo teased and the two ended up laughing at their lame inside joke.

At the table nearby, a certain someone was cringing at everything that he was hearing. Guess it was true when they say that you should find someone who is willing to be lame with you in public.

Minseok took a long sip of his iced Americano, he can’t wait for his ‘someone lame’ to get out of his hospital bed so they can outdo the newly reunited couple.
