Though most people try to at least offer better quality pics lolll you guys, I THINK THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING OFF WITH MY BLACKBERRY PICTURE TAKING SKILLS. So uh, preemptive apologies for the graininess.
But before I continue, here have a picture that is at least somewhat okay-- the fantastic dessert spread that Dad brought for dinner yesterday from the Oriental bakery. Clockwise, starting from noon: Vanilla Bourbon (+white choc mousse & cake bottom), blueberry cheesecake, lemon tart, The Wave (giant macaroon with lychee cream and a raspberry center) and I forgot the name of the last one, but it had white chocolate and layers of cream, blackberry and raspberry.
And now, barring whatever I will probably still buy tomorrow (I HAVE 6 MORE KILOS OF WEIGHT FOR MY LUGGAGE, but no room lololol tragedy!), MY SHOPPING HAUL SO FAR:
Seriously, the new Platinum mall is like Candy Mountain, but without the imminent kidney shanking and I look forward to making return visits and freaking out anew about the sweet, sweet wholesale prices. Even saw some of the stuff there resold in Siam for around 100-200 THB more. It also has ace people-watching potential, for you have the seasoned veterans and buyers who are roaming the floors hauling GIANT rolly suitcases after themselves.
...Friday's complete 1 hour shopping haze haul! Up left corner is the mini sailor-style dress that I am sending Carmen for Christmas and the nifty colored top is basically the only thing that I could feasibly wear in the seriously cool shop I found. Damn their fantastic sewing, cute patterns but TINY SIZES.
(the following pics taken in the master bedroom because of the better mirrors. At one point my Dad came in and was all "...what are you doing.")
...I confess, I am somewhat addicted to these "one dress that look like separates" kind of styles, but this just looks really simple and nice in RL. The grey is subtly striped and after I purposedly stretched the elastic a bit more it stands high chances of becoming quite comfortable, too.
...sadly too short to wear without anything underneath, as the pic shows. I bought this with Ma in mind, though I couldn't resist trying it on, of course. Ma has already co-opted a bunch of my dresses anyways, and I love seeing her spin on things. Also she invariably always looks posher with her superior make-up skills and jaunty headscarves now, too XDD. FOILED BY MY OWN MOTHERRRRR :DD
...this seemed like a better idea on the hanger, the print seemed interesting, the cut comfortable with this seam thing across the front making for an interesting eye-catcher... BUT! When you put it on and actually do have a slight stomach, by golly does it make you look like you are nursing a nice gut. UGHH. Still, it was cheap and I will wear it regardless.
...for all that I still have a love-hate relationship with dresses that have this silhouette, THEY ARE SO COMFORTABLE. And I just love the way the fabric drapes.
...it looks so nifty! The dress also has strange animals speaking random things, it is confusing yet somewhat charming and this is probably my favorite buy of the trip.
...now one of the two pricier ones, and again the shitty camera pics and my awkward posing do no justice to the quite interesting pattern of this one and the nice draping of the neckline. The fabric is comfortable and would be perfect for my nebulous Future Swank Office Wardrobe (which of course I am planning for now).
...my second favorite! I was willing to pay the 350 THB price tag at this shop because I was charmed by the fact that they only had dresses in two sizes- M and XL. MORE OF THIS PLEASE. Also, the eagle is just boss.
...THIS IS SO PLEASANT TO WEAR. Again, the best part of this is lost to this pic, but it is actually navy lace on the upper part that makes for a nice and subtly classy but still casual look. Add a waist belt, some pearls and BAM. DONE.
...I kind of feel like Rachel Berry in this one, but HOT PINK TINY POLKA DOTS YESSS. The elastic in the waist of this one was killer and had to be ahem, gently stretched though daaaaaamn I nearly couldn't get my head through.
...and finally, a somewhat better-lit picture of the bling! Probably one of my better hauls in recent memories, I am particularly fond of the big multi-tiered semi LV one and the colorful necklace and the fact that everything cost around 79-200 THB. MHHHH SALES.
APROPOS OF NOTHING, I have chewed enough gum the past few hours that my jaw hurts like the dickens. You all needed to know that, I'm sure.
