Barely 2010 and I am regressing already, WHOOPS

Jan 07, 2010 02:09

My days here since Saturday evening have been lethargic and unproductive in RL-terms, though I just finished updating of my icons and did spend Sunday having delicious cookery funtimes with Miss Olga again (mmmh rice with tiny veggie bits, turkey breast and tomato sauce). NEXT TIME: Pictorial evidence! Not that it ends up like October 2009 again-- a month of awesome and being social, but with no pics to back it up lol. But! Carmen is also back today, and I was so excited to see her agaaaaaaain, and also welcome the fact that her presence means I get off my ass and do things like a normal, productive person. She brought me more homemade jam from her mom (plum and cinnamon this time ♥, am still having the best sandwiches ever with the blueberry, rum and vanilla one I got in December when Ines came) and some homemade cookies, too! Delightful ones dipped in chocolate with a walnut and orange marmalade filling and super cinnamon-y cinnamon stars with delicious icing. IT ALL SMELLS SO DAMN GOOD, I could happily just sit here and huff the bag like some crazy addict :D

One of the minor, but personally important things I need to focus on is getting my sleeping patterns back to normal again-- have fallen back to my first year at uni levels of bad habits. 4AM bedtimes and regaining consciousness at 11AM is not a good thing, and the rings under my eyes are approaching panda territory :/ I've managed to dial it back to 3AM last night though, and plan on going to bed at 2.30AM today. Slow increments! THE INTERNET BETTER NOT SUDDENLY BECOME INTERESTING NOW, OKAY.

Also, I managed to drag myself downstairs to check my mail (was too lazy before, for the usual stupid reasons) and lo and behold my mailbox held two glorious treasures:
TREASURE ONE: rainrockstar, thank you so much for the super cute gingerbread-men card! Their wee buttons! And I must say that I am tremendously jealous of your handwriting-- it look so classy and stylish!

TREASURE TWO: nebst, THE PACKAGE CAME!! OH MY GOD ♥. Thanks a milliooooooon, eee! I am super exited to try out the imps now, and have decided to start tomorrow when I am actually gonna be leaving the house and not just lounging 'round in my PJs all day. I just keep opening the little sachets and sniffing them happily :DD. I'll just email you after this post for your German address, eh? My bad for not sending my package off earlier, ahhh.

OH AND HERE BE: another year end meme stolen from mcollinknight

Meme #1:

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
I learned both ways to shuffle a deck of cards, I assisted at fancypants PR events and client presentations, I frantically speedwalked and dragged my luggage 2.4kms through zero degrees Celcius and an icy drizzle at 4AM in the morning, I ate food I have never tried before, I saw a 3D movie and a bunch more that I am probably forgetting.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I always make some out of tradition, but I am a person who just likes making lists. And when faced with the fact that most of the things on a list haven't been done yet, likes to make a new one with stuff that can be crossed off. Ahem.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
An underclassman from school, but she was more friends with some of mine, I never really knew her that well. Still, nineteen remains too fucking soon to die.

5. What countries did you visit?
Germany (x2), Italy, Thailand (lol am totally counting this) and Denmark.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A JOB THAT PAYS A DECENT SALARY. An apartment all to myself. A better work ethic. A fitter body? A ~~special man friend~~? Something along those lines.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
...I seriously don't think in "THIS DATE WILL BE FOREVER BURNED INTO MY BRAIN", which is a shame, I guess. Lots of great things happened in 2009, I don't want to single any out.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Most definitely getting top grades on both my BAKK1 and BAKK2 Thesis papers (one of my few true academic highs, ahh). And my summer internship at Leo Burnett/Arc Worldwide.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Baby's first fandom fuck-up! Hah, will not go into more detail about it again, but that chill of shame and self-disgust still works its way down my spine when I think about it, so I think it is still well remembered in my memory.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Anything bad?
Nothing worse than random mini onsets of fever and hacking coughs. Nothing a good dose of tea, cough syrup, vitamins and fruit couldn't cure. Am lucky that I have a good immune system. The random eyetwitch I seem to have developed in the last December weeks is probably a bad thing, though. HMMM IS MY BODY TRYING TO TELL ME SOMETHING ABOUT EYE STRAIN. I wonderrr.

11. What were the best things you bought?
Some of my new dresses in the summer, Kiehls and La-Roche Posay beauty goods, presents for special darling people, my summer reading list and since C counted them, I am also picking all my travel plane tickets.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My internet ladies for being awesome, sparkling and helpful in what basically amounted to all aspects of my life this year. In RL: Carmen for being ♥Carmen♥ and my BFF and travel soulmate, Olga for having my Viennese back and putting up with my constant invasions and my Mom for being the best Mom EVER and always there for me with advice and love, but never the "crap did I make you cry?? Seriously?" kind that my Dad, bless him, prefers to subscribe to.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A hard question to answer since I'm in a pretty happy mood at the moment, but I can probably say that most of the people who make it on the news who aren't stars of heartwarming stories or brilliant political or scientific breakthroughs. I continue to be appalled and depressed at Sabrina though, lol.

14. Where did most of your money go?
FOOD. Travel. Happy funtimes purchases ... and the postal service.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
GOING HOME!!1 Seeing La & Angie in München again! Seeing Migel in BKK! Various fandom dates and occasions! FINALLY GETTING THE STAR TREK DVD!

16. What song/s will always remind you of 2009?
- Lady Gaga's "Poker Face", "Bad Romance" and "Telephone"
- David Cook (bought it in the summer), Adam Lambert and Kris Allen's albums
- Tattoo Color's "Cinderella", "Kha Moo" and "Gohok"
- Moderndog's "Niyai" and "BTS"
- Bigbang's "Haru Haru" and "Lies"
- Girl Generation's "Gee"
- N.A.S.A "Gifted (ft. Kanye West ft. Santigold & Lykke Li)"
- Beyonce "Single Ladies"
- Matt & Kim "Daylight"
- Sage Francie "Sea Lion"
- Mumford and Sons "Little Lion Man"
- 3OH!3 "Starstrukk"
- Most of the Glee soundtrack, lol.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? I can't remember. MORE NERVOUS than sad about what will happen next.
ii. thinner or fatter? A wee bit fatter?
iii. richer or poorer? The same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I mostly wish I'd done more uni work (though not as much as I wish I could redo 2007 and 2008), talked and kept contact more with certain friends, been more active.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Be less lazy, unproductive and procrastinating. Less ignorant would've also been a great thing.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my grandparents in COWTOWN, rural Salzburg.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
With some new fandoms, yes. With actual people in a romantic sense? Lol no.

22. How many one-night stands?
None!

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The usual suspects (SUPERNATURAAAAAL, TBBT, Dexter, FNL), with TDS and TCR really brightening up my first half of 09, and new loves like Glee, Community, Modern Family, White Collar and The Vampire Diaries really brightening up my latter half of 09. I AGAIN REFUSE TO DECIDE.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I hate Sabrina as always, and can't think of anyone else off the top of my head, so I assume that I just was randomly annoyed at a selection of people, as happens when one lives life and actually has to interact with others.

26. What was the best book you read?
THE ABWL SKRIPTUM. Lol no--- uh, World War Z pretty much unsettled me for a good while after I read it and just based on recency alone, I was extremely engrossed by Generation Kill.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I gotta probably say that as an entire artist? ADAM LAMBERT ♥ But there were also little discoveries like "DAMN IT I LEGIT LIKE KOREAN POP AHHH I HAVE SUCCUMBED TO THE K-WAVE LIKE ALL OTHER THAIS MY AGE" XDD

28. What did you want and get?
To travel to two cities with Carmen this year (four, if we count Hamburg and Hannover heh), to have fun participating in fandom fests, to get a swank internship at a top ad agency, good grades in most uni courses.

29. What did you want and not get?
To actually do predominately advertising things at the internship, to have dinner at SIROCCO OR VERTIGO IN BANGKOK THIS SUMMER ahhh I have been wanting to do since the last 5 years :|, a part-time job (no one's fault but my own), enough willpower to workout (again, I sucked), to be done with university by the summer (LOLOL), a vague idea of a boyfriend and so on.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
HMMM. A tie between Up and The Fall, methinks.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Had delicious Greek dinner with Dad, Sue, Ae and Carmen in Vienna and I turned 21. I vacuumed cleaned before I left the room and generally bummed around before Carmen dragged me out and around the Innenstadt.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting some of the things missed in 29.?

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Less casual t-shirts and jeans, MOAR DRESSES and work-friendly yet cute clothes. And accessories, especially headbands, bracelets and bangles are your friend and can live together peacefully with your love for earrings.

34. What kept you sane?
LJ. Fandom. Friends, online and offline. My parents. The pets, especially stupid pictures of them. Delicious food. Fantastic music. Awesome TV shows.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Lol, it waxed and waned, but Andy Coop was pretty much a delight (and I still love my default pic of him a ridic amount), and I enjoyed perving on the SPN boys as usual, Kradam, and Captain Fine and Doctor Urban. See, I am incapable of choosing!

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Since it was nearest and dearest to my heart, I must honestly say the ongoing bullshittery and redshirt/yellowshirt/whatevercolorshirt idiocy in Thailand.

37. Who did you miss?
People I was away from at the moment, depending on where I was.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
In RL terms, Daniela and Romana. Online, well I still am a bit agogg that I technically only really seriously got to know laliandra since March (all the other spamthread ladies were since late 08, iirc!). AND laulan OF COURSE. MY SPN BB CHERRY-POPPER!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
If you think you know enough about a certain topic, chances are high that you are totally fucking wrong. How to successfully navigate having fucked something up. And the devil is in the details when working, and that it seriously and honestly is important to just shut the fuck up and listen closely to what you're supposed to do before trying to jump the gun. No matter how much you think you can already do it and want to prove things to other people.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
RA RA RO MA MAAAAAAAAA lol, PASS. I never really pay attention to these things, oops.

happy happy joy joy, rl, austria 2010, so lazy, meme, food, carmen is the best, lists, austria 2009, schwag
